As the Senior Industrial Designer you must be able to:
- Create fresh, innovative, and sometimes unique ideas that are focused in strategic design thinking.
- Strategically capture data informed by market and user research that will be delivered internally as well as to Executive, Product and Supply teams.
- Explore and create innovative user experiences hinged in the development of the design of hardware, software and gameplay
- Develop and refine innovative solutions to a final end-user experience.
- Collaborate with a dynamic, cross-functional team during various design development phases.
- Work traditionally and digitally (both 2D and 3D) to develop solutions with a strong emphasis on ergonomics, proportion and refinement of graphic and form.
- Generate artistic, immersive and engaging presentations to senior management (ex. Storyboards, Prototypes, Displays, Animation, VR Experience, Videos, etc.)
- Design and build physical and digital prototypes/stimuli of various levels of fidelity.
The minimum requirements we seek:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Product Design or Industrial Design or closely related field
- 8+ years experience in 2D & 3D digital capabilities (CSuite, SolidWorks, Rhino/ Grasshopper, Office Suite, etc.) with exceptional skill in hand-sketching, conceptual modeling in digital and traditional media
- 5+ years professional experience of industrial design within the simulation hardware industry, including projects taken from concept to market release
- Have a formidable portfolio of design and released product
- Creates and develop exciting design concepts and specifications that define the function, ergonomics, perceived value and appearance of physical hardware products and systems for product consumers and end users.
- Very good understanding in the use of secondary tools for prototyping, ie 3D printing, foam modelling
Our preferred requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree and Master Degree. Experience of 8+ years) in Product Design, Industrial Design or closely related field ie Transportation Design
- Deep understanding of ergonomic hardware design, switches, UX (both functionally, hardware and software), including physical and digital design execution
- Fluency of A-surface and geometry production in 3D CAD. Parametric and procedural design production and application in design ie Grasshopper + Rhino
- Exceptional digital presentation skills in 3D photo-rendering software (Keyshot etc), PS and Illustrator • Strong design development (physical as well as digital sketching) and digital visualization of the deign process/ design thinking
- A strong understanding of complex moulding and mechanical design for handheld electronic products encompassing dynamic features • Very deep knowledge of secondary design/prototyping output methodology, ie multi-axis CNC, parametric 3D printing
- Knowledge and experience in extended fields (ie Entertainment and gaming)
- Up to date on innovation, technology, and electronics trends
- Ability to be pro-reactive with a hands-off approach and take initiative and multi-task under pressure
- A strong, collaborative mindset, encompassing all facets of a holistic design process. Able to deliver creative solutions to problems. Highly motivated innovator known for your fresh perspective and able to demonstrate this with strong communication skills
- Integrate effectively into a multidisciplinary and multinational team and wider company
This is a full-time position, based and located in our offices in Landshut, Germany. The expected candidate is already deemed to be in a senior role. The role will report into the team in California, USA, but the team will be based in Germany.
