Senior Security Officer (full time, night shift position) at Providence Portland Medical Center

Receives general direction from the Security Manager, Supervisor or Lead Security Officer. Performs a variety of intermediate level technical security protective duties to protect patients, visitors, staff, physicians, property and facilities from accidents, bodily harm, fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry. Enforces PH&S, facility and security policies and regulations. Investigates reports of potential criminal conduct against PH&S staff, visitors, staff, and property; responds and assists in restraining patients; detains individuals when necessary or at the direction of a police officer; and provides protective services to high-risk areas. May be required to support any Providence or affiliated organizations within the Oregon Region.
Required Qualifications:
- Coursework/Training: Successful completion of one of the following:
- Certified law enforcement academy, such as corrections, police, reserve or military police, or
- Completion of certified military training, or
- Healthcare Security Officer Advanced or Supervisor Certification through IAHSS.
- Coursework/Training: Successful completion of 5 additional FEMA Emergency Management Institute Courses from Security Services Approved Course List.
- Upon hire: Oregon Private Security Armed/Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, or
- Upon hire: Oregon Private Security Unarmed Professional - Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training, or
- Upon hire: Oregon Private Security Temporary Work Permit
- Upon request: Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request. See policy for additional information.
- 3 years of experience in security or law enforcement in lieu of associates degree
- Experience using personal computer with standard Microsoft applications.
- Coursework/Training: College level coursework in professionally related fields such as criminal justice, social work, psychology or any social science.
- Associate's degree
- H.S. Diploma or GED
- Direct patient experience in a healthcare industry.

Skills Required

- Oregon Private Security Armed/Unarmed Professional certification, Oregon Private Security Unarmed Professional certification, or Oregon Private Security Temporary Work Permit upon hire
- Three years of experience in security or law enforcement in lieu of an associate degree
- Experience using a personal computer with standard Microsoft applications
- Valid driver license and auto insurance if driving is required
- College-level coursework in criminal justice, social work, psychology, or a related social science
