The Role:
Entegris is seeking an experienced R&D Manager to lead CMP slurry/pCMP formulation development activities.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical leadership, project ownership, and people management while driving the development of innovative and robust CMP slurry/pCMP solutions for advanced semiconductor manufacturing.
This position requires deep technical expertise in CMP slurry/pCMP formulation as well as the ability to lead and develop a team, manage multiple development programs, and collaborate closely with global R&D peers, manufacturing, and customer-facing organizations.
In this role you will:
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical direction and decision-making for complex formulation challenges and customer-specific requirements.
- Lead the development of CMP slurry/pCMP formulation by applying structure–activity relationship understanding across abrasives, polymers, and small molecule additives.
- Guide experimental design, data interpretation, and statistical analysis to validate mechanisms of action and ensure formulation robustness.
- Review and approve technical reports, experimental plans, and formulation strategies.
Project & People Management
- Own and manage multiple development projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with business priorities, timelines, and resource constraints.
- Establish project goals, milestones, and success criteria; monitor progress and proactively address technical or execution risks.
- Directly manage and mentor scientists and engineers, fostering technical growth, accountability, and a collaborative team culture.
- Set clear expectations, conduct performance reviews, and provide continuous coaching and development feedback.
- Build team capability by identifying skill gaps, supporting training, and participating in hiring and onboarding activities.
- Promote a strong safety-first culture and ensure compliance with EHS policies and laboratory best practices.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a technical interface with global R&D teams and key customers.
- Communicate strategy, progress, and results effectively to senior management and cross-site stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality technical presentations for internal reviews and customer discussions.
Traits we believe make a strong candidate:
MS or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, or a related field.
Extensive experience in CMP/pCMP slurry formulation development within the semiconductor industry.
>7 years experience for PhD, >10 years experience for MS
Demonstrated people management experience, including direct management of scientists/engineers.
Strong ability to translate complex experimental data into clear technical direction and project decisions.
Hands-on experience with polymers, surfactants, and abrasive particle systems.
Excellent English communication skills for global collaboration.
Strong collaboration, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Available for international business travel
