As a Senior Scientist, you will lead and execute on projects to design, develop, and apply innovative AI technologies, including machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and foundation models, to tackle complex challenges in the energy sector. Your work will span the entire research spectrum, from fundamental theoretical and empirical investigations to prototyping and solution development. You will shape priorities, define problem worth solving, and work on diverse projects with applications in power generation, renewable energy, electric grids, robotics, manufacturing, and internal business processes. You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders from GE Vernova's business units and a broad network of researchers across disciplines and domains. Roles and Responsibilities
- Research, conceptualize, and develop AI solutions for hard industrial problems
- Lead projects and collaborate with teams of peer researchers on new and continuing projects ensuring alignment with strategic objectives
- Work independently as well as guide development of new technologies to demonstrate and realize value of AI through early prototypes and solutions for real-world problems
- Mentor early-career researchers to be effective in project execution and supp-ort their technical growth
- Employ software libraries, tools, and practices to implement efficient, scalable, and reusable solutions
- Create intellectual property by writing invention disclosures and filing patents
- Publish research work in peer-reviewed conferences and journals
- Write grant proposals and support execution of R&D programs
Required Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields and a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a focus on Artificial Intelligence
OR
MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields with a minimum of 8 years of work experience with a focus on Artificial Intelligence - Demonstrated ability to write Python code and hands-on development of AI solutions
- Demonstrated ability to lead AI projects
- Familiarity with GenAI packages including models from OpenAI, Google, Meta, etc. and ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.

- Strong communication skills to engage with stakeholders to define problems worth solving and to share progress and outcomes
- Experience in leading research efforts and collaborating with researchers.
- Experience in writing grant proposals and participating in the execution of grant-supported research; includes demonstrated successful communication with government agencies such as DoE, ARPA-E, DoD, and DARPA
- Contribution to public domain codebases and/or significant GitHub portfolio
The base pay range for this position is 111,200.00 - 185,400.00 USD USD, Annually. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s education and skill set. This position may also be eligible for a sign on incentive and new hire equity grant based on meeting certain eligibility criteria.
