Senior Scheduler Job Description

Summary:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Senior Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing detailed construction project schedules to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. This position plays a critical role in supporting project teams by providing accurate schedule forecasts, identifying risks, and offering data-driven recommendations to keep projects on track. The Senior Scheduler partners closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to deliver predictable results on complex commercial and industrial construction projects.

Description

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Establish baseline schedules and integrate all work activities, milestones, and critical path elements.
  • Collaborate with estimating and operations teams during project planning to ensure accurate sequencing and resource allocation.
  • Track and update construction progress against baseline schedules.
  • Collect, validate, and analyze schedule data to measure performance and forecast completion.
  • Prepare regular schedule status reports and present updates to project managers, clients, and executive leadership.
  • Identify variances, delays, and potential impacts to the schedule, and recommend corrective or mitigation actions.
  • Conduct “what-if” analyses to evaluate alternative approaches and recovery plans.
  • Support project teams in developing time impact analyses and change order documentation.
  • Work closely with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure alignment on schedule objectives and deliverables.
  • Review and critique subcontractor and vendor schedules for accuracy, logic, and compliance with contract requirements.
  • Facilitate schedule review meetings and ensure transparent communication across stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the refinement of company scheduling standards, tools, and procedures.
  • Mentor and train project staff in scheduling best practices and software use.

Requirements

  • Deep understanding of construction sequencing, critical path method (CPM), and project controls.
  • Ability to perform resource and cost-loaded scheduling and conduct time-impact and delay analyses.
  • Advanced proficiency with construction management/scheduling software (Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project or similar).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and maintain positive relationships with clients and project teams.
  • Experience working for a general contractor is required.

Skills Required
