Job Summary: The Senior Sales Engineer serves as the technical lead in the business development and sales process for advanced robotics, automation, and aerospace tooling solutions. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and commercial strategy, partnering with sales, program management, and engineering teams to develop, scope, and position high‑value capital equipment solutions for aircraft production environments.
The Sales Engineer not only defines technical solutions and system architecture but also plays a critical role in securing new business, actively contributing to deal closure and revenue generation. This position is accountable to help turn customer needs into won contracts and measurable financial results. This role acts as a key interface with Airbus internal stakeholders, customers, and partners throughout the pre‑contract and early program phases.

Your challenges:
Primary Responsibilities:
Technical Sales & Solution Development
- Partner with commercial teams to shape winning technical proposals, influence customer decisions, and convert opportunities into contracted business.
- Engage with customers to uncover unmet needs, emerging requirements, and expansion opportunities that drive additional business.
- Deliver persuasive technical presentations and demonstrations that articulate solution benefits and differentiation.
- Lead technical solution development for robotics, automation, and aerospace tooling opportunities from early customer engagement through proposal submission.
- Define solution scope across robotics, tooling, controls, vision systems, and factory integration.
- Evaluate technical feasibility, risks, and assumptions to shape winning and executable solutions.
Proposal & Capture Execution
- Own the technical volume of proposals including scope definition, system architecture, assumptions, and compliance matrices.
- Partner with program management, engineering, and commercial teams to develop cost estimates, schedules, and resource plans.
- Support RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs with clear, compelling, and technically accurate responses.
- Identify risks and opportunities that impact pricing, schedule, and execution strategy.
- Contribute to capture strategy, win themes, and value propositions aligned to customer priorities.
Customer & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary technical interface for customers during pre-sales and early program phases.
- Lead technical discussions, workshops, and design reviews with customer engineering and production teams.
- Present solutions to customer stakeholders, including operators, manufacturing engineers, and executive leadership.
- Build strong customer relationships through technical credibility and responsiveness.
- Support site visits, production line walkdowns, and requirements validation activities.
Internal Coordination & Program Handoff
- Coordinate with mechanical, controls, software, and systems engineering teams to develop aligned solutions.
- Ensure proposed solutions are consistent with internal capabilities, standards, and lessons learned.
- Drive alignment between engineering, program management, and supply chain during proposal development.
- Support transition from sales to execution, ensuring clear scope definition, assumptions, and risk visibility.
- Provide technical continuity into early program phases to ensure successful kickoff and execution.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support continuous improvement of proposal processes, tools, and technical standardization.
- Contribute to development of reusable solution architectures, reference designs, and cost models.
- Support strategic initiatives including new technology introduction and market expansion.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Industrial Engineering, or related field (MS preferred).
Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in robotics, automation, aerospace tooling, or capital equipment environments.
- Demonstrated experience in technical sales, applications engineering, systems engineering, or program engineering roles supporting complex engineered systems.
- Proven track record of developing technical solutions and supporting successful proposals or customer engagements.
- Experience working directly with customers to define requirements, present solutions, and support pre-contract discussions.
- Background in integrating mechanical, electrical, controls, and software systems into production or manufacturing environments preferred.
Preferred
- Experience with aerospace OEM production systems and requirements.
- Background in robotic drilling, fastening, inspection, or assembly automation.
- PMP certification or equivalent program management training.
- Experience with international programs and supplier coordination.
- Familiarity with industrial automation safety standards (ISO, ANSI/RIA, CE).
- Prior experience with companies similar to aerospace automation integrators.
Travel Required:
- 50% Domestic and International
