Position Overview:
The Senior Sales Engineer plays a critical role in driving revenue growth within the manufacturing sector by combining advanced technical expertise with strategic sales skills. This role partners closely with customers to understand their operational needs, recommends customized manufacturing solutions, and supports the full sales cycle from discovery to implementation. The Senior Sales Engineer acts as a subject matter expert, bridging engineering, production, and commercial teams to deliver value‑driven outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development:
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within target manufacturing markets.
- Develop and deliver compelling technical sales presentations, proposals, and ROI analyses.
- Lead solution development efforts by assessing customer needs and recommending appropriate manufacturing systems, equipment, or services.
- Manage key accounts and maintain long-term strategic customer relationships.
- Support contract negotiations by providing technical insights, feasibility validation, and cost justification.
Technical Expertise:
- Serve as the technical authority for manufacturing solutions, machinery, automation systems, or industrial products offered by the company.
- Conduct on-site assessments to evaluate customer processes, equipment, and production challenges.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to design customized solutions and ensure technical accuracy in proposals.
- Provide pre‑sales and post‑sales technical support, including system demonstrations, troubleshooting, and product training.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with product management, R&D, and engineering to communicate customer feedback and influence product development.
- Partner with operations to ensure successful project delivery, installation, and integration.
- Support marketing with technical content for product materials, trade shows, and customer events.
Market & Industry Insight:
- Monitor industry trends, competitor technologies, and emerging manufacturing innovations.
- Analyze market data to provide forecasting and input for strategic planning.
- Participate in industry events, conferences, and customer workshops to strengthen company visibility.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field.
- 5–10+ years of technical sales or applications engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, automation, assembly, robotics, or industrial equipment.
- Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship building skills.
- Proficiency with CAD, CRM systems, and Microsoft 365.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites (30–50% depending on territory).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience selling capital equipment, automation systems, or engineered to order solutions.
- Previous roles in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or technical applications support.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement principles.
- Advanced understanding of cost estimating, ROI modeling, and solution configuration.

The base pay range for this role is $165,000 – $185,000 per year.
