The key areas of this position will be :
- Provides risk engineering support to the SCOR SBS Power Generation Underwriting Team. She/he may support other SCOR underwriting lines where Power Generation, Utilities, and Machinery Breakdown perils are prevalent.
- Advises the SBS Underwriting Team about client risks, risk quality and loss estimates, through site surveys/desktop reviews of operational power generation risks, EAR risks, and project endorsements to operational policies.
- Provides external and internal Power Generation Clients with risk related training/seminars.
- Assists the SCOR Claims Team (Power Generation).
- Contributes to the SCOR Risk Control Practices know-how evolution, with technical guidelines, methodologies, tools developments, technology watch etc. (Powergen).
- Supporting SCOR P&C Specialty Insurance Underwriting and Reinsurance Treaty teams dealing with Power Generation & Utilities. Risks include operational Power Generation (conventional, renewables and transitioning accountys) and Utilities.. LoB include: Power Generation, Energy and Heavy Industries (pulp & paper plants, steel, aluminium, etc.); operational and CAR/EAR accounts.
- Leading/attending insurance surveys/visits, and producing internal/market engineering survey reports for SCOR insureds and prospect risks based on SCOR methodologies and templates.
- Performing risk assessments, risk quality rating, replacement valuation assessments (SCOR software) and loss estimates upon SCOR methodologies and templates.
- Peer reviewing survey reports released by consultants and broker risk engineering.
- Reviewing and advising Underwriting Teams about CAR/EAR Power risks and technical advising about project endorsements to Operational policies.
- Developing, reviewing, enhancing Powergen risk engineering guidelines, methodologies, risk rating, report templates, risk assessment, loss estimate methodologies and guidelines.
- Keeping the Scor Power (turbines) technical database up to date dealing with market experts and OEMs.
- Providing technical assistance to the SCOR claims department reviewing loss adjuster reports, identifying causes that have led to the loss, and facilitate internal lessons learned from losses papers/slides.
- Supporting SCOR clients (i.e. corporate risks) or Insurance Companies to establish Risk Management programs including the introduction of Risk Control programs.
- Developing risk control training modules and leading seminars for SCOR UWs and clients.
- Assisting the RCP Leader in managing SCOR Powergen consultants/contractors.
- Assisting the RCP Leader with the survey plan and resources allocation
- Building internal and external networking and taking active part of the London market network of Risk Engineers/Underwriters and industry experts, including partnership with specialized companies and freelance consultants.
Required experience & competencies
- Bachelor/MSc on Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Extensive industry experience as a Power Engineer with power generation companies.
- International expertise in Insurance/broking Power Generation Risk Engineering roles, including expertise in machinery breakdown.
- English is the business language internally and with clients.
- Any other language is a plus.

Skills Required
- Bachelor or MSc in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Extensive industry experience as a Power Engineer with power generation companies
