Who we are
Apollo, a Skyward Group company, is an innovation-inspired insurance platform operating at Lloyd’s of London, delivering data-driven and creative solutions across a broad range of risks.
Our name reflects our origins. Inspired by one of our founding investors, Neil Armstrong, the first person to walk on the moon, the business was built with the same pioneering mindset. Alongside Jim Hays, Neil set out to create a different kind of Lloyd’s platform, focused, agile and built around people.
Since launch in 2009, we have grown into a diversified insurance group offering products across Property, Casualty, Marine, Energy and Transportation, Specialty and Reinsurance, alongside Smart Follow and digital and embedded risk programmes. Our experience and unique ecosystem give Platform Partners the best chance of success, from navigating the Lloyd’s new entrant process through to the delivery of their long-term strategy.
With a team of more than 300 professionals, we continue to grow with purpose, combining underwriting excellence, innovation and collaboration to enable a more resilient and sustainable world.
Your Role
This is a key role within Apollo's risk function, helping to ensure risks are identified, assessed, monitored and managed effectively across the business and our managed syndicates. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders across underwriting, finance, operations and executive leadership, providing insight, challenge and practical support to strengthen risk management and governance.
The role offers the opportunity to shape and enhance enterprise risk practices, lead meaningful risk initiatives, influence strategic decision-making and contribute to a business focused on enabling a resilient and sustainable world.
What you’ll do
- Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Apollo's Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
- Own risk and control assessments, risk registers and governance activity across Apollo and its managed syndicates.
- Design and deliver risk reporting, insights and recommendations for Boards, Committees and senior stakeholders.
- Support the design and assessment stress testing, scenario analysis and/or capital model validation activities.
- Partner with underwriting, finance and operational teams to identify emerging risks, challenge assumptions and strengthen risk management practices.
- Conduct thematic reviews and deep-dives into key risk areas, translating analysis into practical actions and mitigations.
- Support regulatory compliance and ensure risk management activities remain aligned to evolving requirements.
- Drive a strong risk culture through stakeholder engagement, coaching and influencing.
What we are looking for
- Significant Enterprise Risk Management experience within insurance, financial services or another regulated environment.
- Deep understanding of risk management frameworks, risk assessment methodologies and governance processes.
- Experience designing, delivering or challenging stress testing, scenario testing or capital model validation.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide meaningful insight.
- Experience presenting to senior stakeholders and influencing decision-making.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proficiency with reporting and data tools such as Excel, Power BI or similar.
- Ability to identify risks, assess impacts and develop effective mitigation strategies.
- Lloyd's market experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
- Experience with GRC platforms such as Decision Focus, Magique or similar would be advantageous.
- Professional qualifications such as IRM or CII are welcomed but not required.
What you’ll get in return
We offer a competitive and thoughtfully designed reward package that reflects the value of our people. This includes a fair and attractive salary, discretionary bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package - including 31 days’ annual leave, a non-contributory pension and private medical insurance.
Our commitment to inclusion

What We Do
