Job Summary
We are looking for a Senior Risk Advisor to join our team in Gurgaon, Haryana, India.
In this key role, the Senior Risk Advisor will supervise the local Market Risk team and play a pivotal part in implementing and maintaining internal processes and controls related to financial derivatives (futures, swaps, options) across the organization.The Senior Risk Advisor will collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the front office, finance, accounting and IT teams, particularly in the deployment of new processes, tools and systems, such as the new CTRM and ERP platforms. As the primary point of contact for all derivatives operations within the Finance and Risk departments, the Senior Risk Advisor will report directly to the Head of Market Risk Management.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily derivatives activities and ensure timely resolution of any issues by the team.
- Identify existing and potential risks within the derivatives markets and recommend effective portfolio management.
- Design and implement robust internal controls and processes for derivatives, validated by stakeholders across middle office, front office, finance, and accounting.
- Act as the primary point of contact for brokers, clearers, and financial institutions regarding derivatives trading matters (e.g., account creation, futures settlement).
- Serve as the subject matter expert on derivatives in the ongoing CTRM and ERP implementation projects.
- Collaborate with IT to develop tools and models that enhance market risk monitoring and derivatives exposure management.
- Lead market risk reporting efforts and provide support to local risk analysts in responding to traders' queries and management requests.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with trading teams, gaining an in-depth understanding of current and future trading strategies.
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in Market Risk and Financial derivatives practices and make actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
- Stay current on relevant laws, regulations (e.g., Dodd-Frank, EMIR, MiFID II), and industry best practices to ensure compliance with risk management standards.
- Work closely with Finance/Accounting on derivatives results allocation across portfolios and strategies.
- Work closely with Treasury/Trade Finance teams with settlements/funding requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in risk management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
- At least 5 to 7 years of experience in a similar role within commodity trading companies
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience as a team lead, with a proven track record of improving team performance
- Detail-oriented with a strong analytical mindset and excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure and during irregular hours when required
- Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong sense of responsibility, professionalism, and ethics in all work-related matters
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) with experience in building risk models using Python, R, SAS, or similar programming languages.
