MISSION
Join our team at Wakam as a Senior Reserving Actuary, where you'll play a critical role in supporting our UK subsidiary with regulatory reporting requirements and building new business. This is a pivotal role for the sub, with significant impact on our business strategy.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Determine the level of profitability at the partner level, providing insights to support business decisions.
- Support the underwriting team in improving terms and conditions for Wakam.
- Provide timely input to the finance function to produce periodic management accounts.
- Deliver the technical provisions for Solvency Capital Calculation.
- Work closely with the Claims and Reinsurance teams to support profitability and achieve desired results.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure the accuracy and adequacy of reserves.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain reserving models and methodologies, identifying areas for improvement.
- Stay updated on regulatory developments and industry best practices related to reserving.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications & Skills:
- Qualified Actuary with a UK qualification (FIA, FFA, or equivalent) and and several years of post-qualification experience.
- Experience in reserving for non-life (P&C or retail) insurance, including home, motor, pets, and personal lines.
- Proficiency in MS Office Tools and experience with actuarial reserving software.
- Open to diverse/cross-disciplinary experiences, including reserving.
Soft Skills/Cultural Fit:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Diplomatic and agile, comfortable with constant change and ambiguity.
- Innovative thinker, with the ability to think on their feet and develop creative solutions to complex problems.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a proactive approach to learning and development.
