Position: Senior Research Analyst

Position Overview
As a member of the Research Team, the Senior Research Analyst is responsible for the analysis and application of double taxation treaties and domestic regulations pertaining to the international taxation of cross-border investments, thus providing GlobeTax with specific withholding rates, reclaim rates, and processes required to lodge a reclaim for over-withheld taxes within the country of investment.
The Senior Research Analyst will utilize various sources of information such as local tax legislation, regulatory procedures, web-based resources, tax conventions, and other international agreements.
The individual in this position works under the supervision of the Senior Vice President of the Research team, alongside other Research team members and within the Operations department.
Responsibilities
- Review, analyze, and synthesize double taxation treaties and related information from various sources to ensure a complete, accurate database of statutory/domestic rates, treaty withholding tax rates, and statutes of limitations relevant to different beneficial owner and security types worldwide
- Maintain a repository of research documents in support of tax treaties and tax reclamation processes, regulatory issues, and other pertinent global withholding tax information
- Interpret complex worldwide tax regulations and policy developments that impact GlobeTax’s services and drive management’s business decisions
- Conduct research in support of potential new GlobeTax products and services
- Support the Business Development and Operations groups by creating tax bulletins and internal white papers regarding existing laws or new and proposed changes within the tax industry; such topics may include procedural analysis, worldwide tax trends, and European Union direct tax law developments
- Stay abreast of regulatory issues and changes by, for example, regularly reviewing information available on foreign government and tax authority websites
- Perform ad hoc projects related to GlobeTax’s business, as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience in one or more of the following fields: financial services, international tax policy, cross-border taxation, paralegal research in tax or securities
- Strong ability to analyze and interpret complex tax-related legal information and penchant for problem solving
- Highly motivated and intellectually curious with a determination to comprehensively affirm the validity of data and thoroughly research a variety of sources
- Highly detail-oriented and organized with a strong affinity for critical review of information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to summarize complex documents
- Strong PC skills, especially Microsoft Office
- Experience with tax treaties or reclaims a plus
- A good understanding of the global custody business a plus
- Familiarity with intergovernmental information-sharing agreements a plus
- Master’s Degree in Taxation a plus
- Awareness of emerging digital and AI-enabled research tools is beneficial, though traditional research skills and critical thinking remain the primary focus of this role

Skills Required
