The Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer will lead product development, conduct simulations, ensure manufacturability, and mentor junior engineers, focusing on innovative mechanical design solutions.

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

  • Apply specialized knowledge (e.g., structural analysis, DFM, DFA, etc.) to size and select components and ensure product/process design.

  • Work with cross-functional teams that launch products by taking market specifications from design to prototype and production. This can also cover both branded platform products and products engineered for specific customer applications.  

  • Work closely with Engineering Lead to partner with customers, engage in industry partnerships, and establish other relationships enabling us to advance our product and technology reach.

  • Participate and lead cross-functional product development teams.

  • Coordinate and maintain complex development schedules. 

  • Conduct simulations and analyses (e.g., FEA, FMEA) to validate product performance and reliability. 

  • Direct outside activities such as regulatory or other third-party testing. 

  • Collaborate across design and engineering teams to optimize manufacturability and meet industry/customer standards. 

  • Support manufacturing improvements by working with and help develop internal fabrication, assembly, and test departments, as well as external suppliers. 

  • Lead local product development from concept to production, including prototyping and coordination. 

  • Manage the critical issues of meeting with engineering and cross-functional teams. 

  • Oversee testing protocols, external certifications, and mentor junior engineers while knowing the latest with industry advancements.  

  • Lead and coordinate local NPD, NPI, Sustaining & Design for Customization in DS projects. 

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree engineering required. Mechanical engineering is preferred. 

  • Ideally 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design and project management.

  • Bilingual, strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish is required.

  • Experience with Data Center cabinets and environmental. 

  • Ability to design components and assemblies using 3D CAD system SolidWorks or similar. 

  • Knowledge of CAD Simulation Analysis tools such as FEA, etc.

  • In depth knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes such as rapid prototyping. 

  • In depth knowledge on GD&T, application and reading. 

  • Knowledge in Mechanical & Material properties related to design.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in complex sheet metal design and metallurgic process. 

  • Experience in design and failure analysis tools such as DFMEA, DFM, RCCM etc.

  • Strong knowledge in engineering drawing standards and specifications.
