The Engineer will be design, develop, debug, and deliver FANUC robot software for the customers of the Global Standards Software & Validation Group.
Additionally, the Engineer will be required to gather customer requests and requirements needed for current and future projects. These requests will need to be clarified by creating a functional specification that is approved by the customer. On approval of each development, the Engineer will need to create an internal functional specification for the development. Applications to be interfaced are: Spot, Dispense, Stud, MH, SPR, Flowdrill, Tool changers, Projection Welding, Arc Welding, Vision, Collaborative robots, etc.
Primary responsibilities will include:
- Lead software developments for key GSSV customers.
- Write detailed robot software specifications based on customer specific process requirements.
- Develop robot programs written in both KAREL, TTP+, and PMC.
- Develop and integrate custom program solutions to meet specific customer requirements.
- Support system field installation and startup of GSSV robots.
- Develop Customer specific programming guides.
- Configure project software using CPQ.
- Electrical troubleshooting.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplined development team.
- Support sales and quoting efforts as required.
- Supervise and train entry-level engineers.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Attend project meetings with customers, engineers, and managers.
The ideal candidate will have the following experience and education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s degree in Software/Electrical Engineering related field or equivalent relevant experience.
- Minimum five years experience with body shop applications including spot welding, riveting, clinching, flow drill, dispensing, etc.
- Experience with industrial robots and/or computer-controlled automation.
- Software programming experience (Fanuc KAREL/TPP preferred).
- Ability to train/supervise others.
- Robot programming experience.
- Ability to read electrical/mechanical prints.
- Attend project meetings with customers, engineers, and managers.
- Windows programming knowledge.
- PLC programming a plus – Allen Bradley and/or Siemens preferred.
- Able to perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on electrical hardware
