Job Responsibilities:

  • High school degree; or equivalent vocational/trade school education in Manufacturing, Materials, Logistics or related field; or related materials/logistics work experience.
  • Minimum 3 years Materials and/or Logistics experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience in a leader/supervisory role.
  • Experience shipping to OEM.
  • Ability to operate a forklift and tugger in a safe manner.
  • Knowledge of and basic skills in lean manufacturing principles and problem-solving methods.
  • Understand basic OSHA and safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understands basic automotive quality terms.
  • Practical experience with computers and Microsoft Office.
  • Good math skills and the ability to analyze data.
  • Strong listening and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and with a variable workload (flexible hours).
  • Ability to understand, anticipate and follow direction while exercising maturity of judgement.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with other team members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion and tact.
  • Physically capable of performing essential duties of the job.

DUTIES:

  • Coordinates daily materials and logistics activities of job assignments.
  • Ensures container receipts and shipments are being accurately tracked and entered into proper systems.
  • Ensures timely unloading/loading of trailers and that window times are being met.
  • Meets with the Shift Leader to understand the current state of the materials and logistics activities, absentee/tardiness call-ins, and changes to normal employee work areas/equipment, etc.
  • Holds daily pre-shift meetings to inform Materials and Logistics Associates of any changes, to communicate daily requirements and to promote involvement in issues affecting employees or their work areas.
  • Ensures TPM/Daily Care activities, safety checks, etc. are completed properly and as scheduled.
  • Performs shift start prep; ensuring the necessary PPE and other materials/supplies are available.
  • Properly prepares for the next shift start.
  • Steps in when employees report in absent, or need intermittent breaks, etc.
  • Trains new associates on and ensures adherence to standardized work processes.
  • Ensures that employees are trained, qualified, and capable of performing assigned duties, ensuring no employees are working on any machinery/equipment they have not been properly trained on and formally authorized/signed-off to use.  
  • Ensures adherence to Company 5S procedures.
  • Ensures Layered Process Audits (LPA) are performed as required. Quickly resolves any non-conformances.
  • Follows the Quality Alert System. Communicates and ensures quality alerts are adhered to; participates in problem solving to ensure issues have been effectively resolved; and administers the fast response board.
  • Follows Company procedure for handling non-confirming product and ensures that non-conforming product is dispositioned, tagged accordingly, and placed in designated non-confirming product areas.
  • Responds quickly to issues; gains understanding of the problem(s); requests support from the appropriate group(s), informing them of issues/problems upon their arrival and leads a quick resolution.
  • Continually monitors MAFACT and other data boards to ensure safety, quality, and timing, cost, and motivation KPI targets are being met. Responds to issues of underperformance with urgency and provides direction, assistance, support and coaching to resolve the issues, following the proper escalation procedures as required.
  • Applies systematic and data-based problem-solving methods to resolve issues effectively.
  • Follows a plan, do, check, act methodology to achieve permanent corrective actions and continuous improvement. 
  • Supports Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping efforts and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensures all administrative duties are completed as required and that work is completed on time as scheduled, and is thorough, accurate and complete.
  • Reports all non-conformances to Company policies, procedures, rules and regulations to the Shift Leader and is involved in the appropriate corrective action(s).
  • Conducts performance reviews informally or formally as required and ensures performance reviews are completed for all employees.
  • Builds and fosters teamwork within the department creating an environment where team members are respectful (people, property, equipment), work together, communicate effectively and lend a hand when/where required.
  • Participates in the Return-to-Work (R-T-W) program and ensures employees work within their R-T-W plan.  Understands Physical Demands Analysis in their area of responsibility and ensures that assigned work does not jeopardize the healing and recovery process. Monitors employee return to work progress, reviews daily work journals, and follows up on any issues raised.
  • Ensures suppliers are performing work safely while in operations work areas/zones when applicable.
  • Attends departmental and plant-wide communication meetings as scheduled.
  • Attends training as scheduled.
  • Complies with, supports and models CBAM’s operational procedures/policies, Employee Handbook, and Magna’s Employee’s Charter, Corporate Constitution, and Operational Principles.
  • Complies with relevant Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental programs (e.g. ISO 9001/IATF 16949, ISO 45001 ISO 14001).
  • Complies with all Health and Safety programs in accordance with OSHA.
  • Follows and ensures Production Associates follow all Company procedures and regulations regarding safety.
  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner.
  • Develops and maintains peer relationships.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized.
  • Other duties as required.
