Boeing Information Digital Technology & Security is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Lead & Test Architect to join the Learner Solutions Virtual Airplane application team, supporting the Boeing Global Services Training Solutions organization. This position is based out of Seattle, WA.

In this role, you will serve as a senior quality assurance leader and test architect within a dynamic and innovative team, responsible for defining and executing comprehensive QA strategies across multiple applications. You will lead the testing organization to ensure high-quality product delivery through root-cause analysis, defect management, and efficient testing practices. Collaborating closely with development teams and architects, you will align testing strategies with system architecture and integrate automated testing into the CI/CD pipeline. Your leadership will be pivotal in mentoring QA engineers, driving continuous improvement, and advocating for best practices in test automation and performance testing.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Define and implement a comprehensive testing strategy for 12+ applications, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and quality standards.
  • Lead the testing organization to foster a culture of high-quality product delivery, emphasizing root-cause analysis, defect reporting, and efficient testing practices.
  • Design and establish a robust test architecture supporting both automated and manual testing processes to enhance overall testing efficiency.
  • Own defect management processes, including issue logging templates, lifecycle management, and root cause analysis in collaboration with product teams and developers.
  • Ensure comprehensive test coverage through automated regression, smoke tests, and manual scripts across devices, browsers, platforms, and environments.
  • Create and execute detailed test plans with traceability to requirements, covering functional and non-functional aspects.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to understand system architecture and improve testability, integrating automated tests into the Continuous Integration (CI) pipeline.
  • Communicate testing progress and results to stakeholders through regular reports, pass/fail rates, risk identification, and defect summaries.
  • Conduct performance, stability, and scalability testing to meet global and regional software requirements.
  • Work with DevOps teams to manage and configure test environments aligned with code specifications, resolving environment-related issues.
  • Identify and recommend continuous improvement opportunities within QA processes, driving innovation and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with program architects to refine and evolve testing strategies, sharing best practices across teams.
  • Evaluate and select advanced testing tools and technologies to enhance testing capabilities and productivity.
  • Improve QA team performance metrics focusing on process improvement, bug management, team effectiveness, and deliverable quality.
  • Expand test case coverage, including those currently identified as non-automatable, ensuring thorough testing.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
  • 15+ years of relevant experience in quality assurance and testing, with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven expertise in performance testing, security testing, and other non-functional testing for web and desktop applications.
  • Extensive experience as a Senior QA professional within Aeronautical, Aerospace, or Aviation domains.
  • Proficient in DevOps practices with strong focus on integrating testing into the SDLC.
  • Demonstrated experience in Simulation Test Automation and performance testing of streaming applications.
  • Hands-on test automation experience across iOS, and Windows platforms.
  • Strong background in Quality Assurance and Reliability Engineering.
  • Deep expertise in test automation frameworks and scripting languages.
  • Exceptional analytical skills to assess complex systems and identify testing improvements.
  • In-depth knowledge of software testing methodologies, tools, and industry best practices.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure.
  • Good understanding of front-end technologies including HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular, Vue.js).
  • Experience with back-end frameworks such as Spring Boot or Java EE.
  • Proficient in test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Java, REST Assured, Sikuli, WinApp Driver, and Sim Connect.
  • Experience with performance testing tools including Apache JMeter, LoadRunner, AppDynamics, Gatling, and Dynatrace.
  • Proven track record as a QA Lead or similar role within a test platform organization.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Understanding of aircraft systems and operational requirements.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience leading large-scale QA teams in complex environments.
  • Proficient in Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools, particularly Azure DevOps.
  • Comprehensive understanding of system architecture and software design principles.
  • Familiarity with Agile (Scrum & SAFe) and DevOps methodologies.
  • Certifications in relevant QA, testing, or cloud technologies.
  • Technical degree in computer science, information systems, or similar.

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:
Relocation assistance is NOT an added benefit for this position. Candidates would need to be local or relocate to the Seattle area at their own expense.

Summary Pay Range for Mid-Level: $175,000 - $225,000
