Life at Plume

At Plume, we believe that technology isn't about moving faster, it's about making life’s moments better. Which is why we’ve built the world's first, and only, open and hardware-independent service delivery platform for smart homes, small businesses, enterprises, and beyond. Our SaaS platform uses WiFi, advanced AI, and machine learning to create the future of connected spaces—and human experiences—at massive scale.

We now deliver services to over 60 million locations globally and have managed over 3 billion devices on our platform. We’re expanding rapidly, pioneering a new category, and we achieved our Series F funding in just four years. Our customers include many of the world's largest Internet Service Providers (ISPs) who look to Plume to help them evolve their smart home offerings while gleaning insights from their own data.

With a bias for action and a love for being trailblazers, the team at Plume embodies a combination of relentless curiosity and imaginative innovation. We challenge ourselves to think in ways that other companies don't, work to do what should be done (rather than what can), and if we can’t do it exceptionally well, we don’t do it. It’s how we've assembled a team of world-class builders, thinkers, and doers. And it’s how we’re reinventing what’s possible every day.

This is a work-from-office / In-Office role based in our Hyderabad, India location.

Role Description:

Plume crafts new-to-planet experiences built on top of the world's best performing home WiFi system. Plume is committed to powering operator services beyond traditional voice, video and data. We believe that the core competitive advantage in the over-the-top era resides in your ability to create new services at high cadence, deploy them at massive scale, and to orchestrate through a common data set. We architected the Plume Platform As a Service (PaaS) precisely with this intent.

We are looking for experienced Wi-Fi and Platform Software Development Engineers in Test (SDETs) to help ensure that the products we deliver meet our customers' quality expectations. The ideal candidate is a talented engineer who demonstrates initiative, adaptability to a challenging environment, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and a solid understanding of QA processes and test automation.

Responsibilities:
  • Design, document, and execute test plans for Wi-Fi connectivity, performance, stability, and functionality.
  • Develop and maintain Python-based test automation to improve coverage and reduce regression cycles.
  • Perform functional, integration, regression, and system testing across Wi-Fi, networking, and embedded platforms.
  • Test and troubleshoot 802.11 protocols, Layer 2/3 networking, routing, VLAN, NAT, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Reproduce, debug, and root-cause complex field and system-level defects.
  • Use tools such as Wireshark for packet analysis and network troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with software, firmware, and QA teams to define test strategies and deliver high-quality products.
  • Participate in feature/design discussions and contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes.
Qualifications:
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in QA, SDET, or Software Test Engineering, preferably in Wi-Fi, networking or IoT.
  • Strong understanding of Wi-Fi (802.11) and networking fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with embedded/router platforms and hardware test environments.
  • Strong Python scripting and test automation skills.
  • Experience with Wireshark and network troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with RDK-B, prplOS, OpenWrt, or similar Linux-based router platforms is a plus.
  • Knowledge of TR-369/USP, TR-181, TR-069/TR-098
  • Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Postman, or similar QA/CI tools is a plus.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills..
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
