At Softeta, we are looking for a Senior Python Engineer to become a member of our small, agile development team, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of our US-based client.The team will be responsible for a greenfield project to build a new payment processing platform from the ground up, moving away from existing systems to create a modern, scalable, and efficient solution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop backend services using Python and Django, taking ownership from technical design through production delivery.
- Shape the platform’s architecture, making practical decisions around scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability.
- Build robust APIs and payment integrations, ensuring transaction integrity, safe retries, and effective error handling.
- Collaborate directly with product managers and client stakeholders to clarify requirements, assess trade-offs, and deliver solutions.
Technologies: Python, Django, AWS, PostgreSQL, TypeScript, React.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on Python.
- Strong experience with Django or comparable Python frameworks such as FastAPI or Flask, including API design and backend architecture.
- Familiarity with TypeScript and React or any modern TypeScript Frameworks.
- Solid PostgreSQL and SQL skills, including data modelling, transactions, and performance optimisation.
- Ability to own complex technical work independently, explain architectural decisions, mentor colleagues, and communicate effectively in English.

Salary:
- For employees: 4500 EUR to 6000 EUR monthly (gross).
- For contractors: 35 EUR to 40 EUR per hour (plus VAT).
