JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Regional Dean and CEO of the Arlington, Va. campus, the Arlington Senior Project Manager is responsible for the buildout and delivery of new research, learning, convening, and administrative space at the Arlington campus. The Senior Project Manager plays a key role in fulfilling the vision of the Arlington campus and the activities that will position the campus to be a strong asset in the region.

The Senior Project Manager will manage and serve as the primary point of contact for the completion and activation of the facility, which will house Northeastern’s Kostas Research Institute for Homeland Security (KRI) and serve government, industry, and other partners in classified and unclassified settings. The role requires liaising with multiple stakeholders across the university and execution of high-level projects and priorities. The Senior Project Manager must be flexible and responsive to changing demands and circumstances, self-directed, and an effective member of a team. This is a 12-18 month on-site position.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and execute comprehensive project management tracking system for the delivery and activation of the new facility

Provide on-site project management support and collaborate with stakeholders within KRI, the Arlington campus, and across Northeastern University to meet project milestones.

Lead bi-weekly stakeholder meetings and provide regular written updates on project status.

Collaborate with KRI and the Arlington campus on the deployment of shared services (i.e. security, IT, building access, etc.)

Establish relationships with property/building management, vendors, and other service providers.

Serve as chief problem solver. Identify, analyze, and resolve challenges. Anticipate obstacles and opportunities.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s required; Master’s preferred

· Experience working with or in a classified environment

· Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate tasks while delivering highest level of service in a highly-matrixed environment.

· Exceptional project management skills including the ability to lead without authority, work under pressure, and deliver optimal outcomes.

· Minimum of 5-10 years of relevant experience managing projects, leading programs, coordinating teams, overseeing operations, etc.

· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

· Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

Roles & Responsibilities 

Project Management (70%) 

· Establish a comprehensive project management system that encompasses all stages and aspects of the project

· Identify and schedule deliverables, milestones and required tasks for each stage of the project

· Provide on-site oversight of construction, design, furniture installation, IT services, etc. to ensure project remains on track

· Develop agendas for and lead project implementation meetings; Track deliverables and assignments

Stakeholder Collaboration (30%) 

· Establish and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders including, but not limited to, KRI, the Arlington campus, the colleges, the office of the CIO, the office of the General Counsel, the office of Planning, Real Estate and Facilities, etc.

· Establish and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, to include the U.S. Government, property/building management, service providers, etc.

· Ensure that internal and external stakeholders are kept up to date on project status and outcomes

· Maintain highest level of customer service and response to stakeholder needs.
