The Senior Project Manager within Process Science department of the IPT (Integrated Product Team) Iron and Small Molecules serves as an operational partner focused on ensuring efficient execution of the department's day-to-day activities, project delivery, and supporting prioritization of such activities and continuous improvements according to the strategic product roadmaps.
The role emphasizes business-as-usual oversight, operational coordination and leadership support across Process Science activities. It thereby enables the Process Science and Technical Operations Lead to focus on scientific and people leadership, strategic decisions, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Business Operations and Project Oversight
- Maintain oversight of the Continuous Improvement (CI) projects and tasks and the respective departmental workload.
- Coordinate resolution of cross-functional technical issues impacting product delivery for commercial supply.
- Track CI project progress against timelines, deliverables, and resources and proactively identify execution risks.
- Ensure alignment of CI project priorities with organizational objectives.
- Support CI project teams in maintaining focus on commitments and deadlines.
- Escalate critical issues requiring management intervention.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Facilitate collaboration on CI projects and tasks between the IPT and partner functions such as:
- Manufacturing Operations
- Quality Assurance
- Regulatory Affairs CMC
- Supply Chain
- Coordinate communication on CI project status, priorities, and risks via existing systems and tools
Leadership Support
- Serve as an advisor to the Process Science Lead on operational matters.
- Support budget tracking and expenditure monitoring.
- Coordinate departmental communications and organizational updates.
- Drive follow-up and accountability for key departmental commitments.
- Act as representative of Process Science in designated operational meetings, as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree (or equivalent) in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- >5 years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing or development organizations.
- Project management principles.
- Experience working with external manufacturing organizations (CMOs/CDMOs).
- Demonstrated experience managing technical projects and cross-functional teams.
- Highly organized and capable of managing multiple interconnected topics at the same time, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment across a broad stakeholder community.
- Self-driven, proactive, and able to take ownership in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience in operational management, project management, or business operations roles
- Operational Leadership: execution excellence, prioritization and clear accountability
- Solid understanding of Pharmaceutical quality systems and GMP environment
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities combined with expertise in Operational Excellence methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and navigate complex matrix organizations.
- Experience working in an international, multicultural environment.
- Fluent in English; German is considered an advantage.
