This position is part of Novanta’s Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) business unit group. Novanta offers highly reliable, precise and safe solutions that enhance system performance and improve patient outcomes. Insufflators, pumps and disposable tube sets, along with medical visualization and operating room integration technologies are the preferred solution for minimally invasive surgery applications
Job responsibilities
- Managing disposable product development (NPI)
- Creation and monitoring of project plans incl. milestone plan, COGS, project costs and NREs
- Reporting project status updates as well as project phase transitions to the executive management
- Identification and mitigation of project risks
- Guiding the project team through the individual development phases
- Alignment of shared resources within R&D
- Coordination of cooperation with the departments: Purchasing/ Service/ Production/ QM/ Manufacturing Engineering/ Regulatory Affairs/ PM and with customers as well as external Service Providers
- Initiating the procurement of materials for sample and prototype builds
- Initiation, coordination and maintenance of technical product documentation up to the product launch
- Ensure timely delivery of mandatory documents for each project phase
- Ensure fulfillment of customer expectations & customer satisfaction
- Escalation of critical project parameters to the program manager and superiors
- Ensure internal & external communication flow
- Internal alignment on customer communication strategy
- Drafting & conducting internal trainings
- Support evaluation of updated standards (Bewertung der Auswirkung von Normänderungen auf den Bereich)
- Active role in improving project management at Novanta (e.g. initiate a Community of Practice)
Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies
- Min. of 4 years’ experience in R&D project management of medical devices or disposables
- Multidisciplinary expertise in systems development, mechanical design (plastic components)and application of disposable products
- Expertise in sterilization and biocompatibility, design-to-cost, packaging, gluing and welding methods
- Experience with relevant standards such as IEC 13485Proven track record of completed projects with a minimum of 1M€ project budget
- Well experienced with classical project management as well as agile project management
- Proficient with common project management tools (e.g. MS Project, MS Azure or similar)
- Advanced knowledge with Microsoft Office tools, SharePoint
- Official project management certification beneficial (such as PMP, IPMA or Prince2)
- very good/fluent English language skill is mandatory, German is a bonus

Travel Requirements
- Travel (up to 10%) to suppliers, production sites or the customers.
