This role is based at our Carole Park Branch, Queensland, where you will join our expanding Power Generation team providing technical leadership and application engineering support for projects across Data Centres, Energy Management, Healthcare, Commercial Buildings, Industrial Facilities, Utilities, Mining, and other critical infrastructure sectors. Working closely with customers, consulting engineers, EPC contractors, project managers, and Cummins teams across the Asia Pacific region, you will develop reliable, high-performance, and cost-effective power generation solutions that meet both technical and commercial requirements.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Develop technical solutions for diesel and gas generator systems, power generation packages, and integrated power solutions. 
  • Engage directly with customers, consulting engineers, EPC contractors, and internal stakeholders to understand technical and commercial requirements. 
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, single line diagrams, system architecture, equipment schedules, and engineering documentation. 
  • Provide on-site expertise during installation and commissioning of equipment, ensuring we provide a high quality and safe solution for our customers.
  • Review  electrical and mechanical system designs to ensure compliance with Australian Standards, customer specifications, and Cummins engineering guidelines. 
  • Provide technical leadership throughout project execution including design reviews, factory acceptance testing (FAT), site installation, commissioning, and project close-out. 
  • Work collaboratively with Sales, Service, Project Management, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to ensure successful project delivery. 
Responsibilities

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline. 
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in power generation, electrical infrastructure, critical power, or industrial power systems. 
  • Experience delivering technical solutions for industries such as Data Centres, Healthcare, Mining, Commercial Buildings, Utilities, Manufacturing, or Infrastructure. 
  • Experience creating and reviewing engineering drawings, electrical schematics, technical specifications, and project documentation. 
  • Strong understanding of Australian Standards and relevant electrical codes. 
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities. 

Desirable traits for the role include:

  • Knowledge of SCADA, PLCs, Building Management Systems (BMS), or Power Management Systems. 
  • Design drafting skills, Autocad, Creo, Solidworks or similar. 
  • Experience with Cummins, CAT, MTU, Kohler, or other power generation equipment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will be responsible for working independently and leading a small team of engineers towards successful completion of engineering projects with a key focus on systems engineering. This role requires a blend of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, team leadership and project/task management skills. This role will have no direct reports. 

This role requires occasional extended travel both within Australia and Internationally in support of project needs. This typically involves travel to a Cummins or sub-supplier facility or to a construction site, and providing engineering expertise in the construction phase or witnessing or performance of testing/commissioning. Some work sites may be in remote areas.   

In support of wider power generation projects, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to lead a multi-discipline team of engineers and to support other Lead Engineers in the deployment of major projects.

  • Engineering support for major projects, provide technical solution/proposal,
  • Mentor junior engineers and engineering interns,
  • Be the key conduit and liaison for Project Managers to plan and direct works
  • Assess a project for required engineering input,
  • Identify and manage technical risk within a project,
  • Develop an engineering delivery plan appropriate to the project’s needs,
  • Lead a team of other engineers, external consultants and sub-suppliers in the delivery of the engineering plan,
  • Work with other lead engineers towards the delivery of other projects as necessary,
  • Interface with customers and sub-suppliers on engineering matters,
  • Asist the Engineering Leadership Team in the development of standardised work practices towards a continuous improvement goal,

The preferred applicant would be able to demonstrate:

  • Extensive experience in previous project delivery (power generation, green energy, distribution, substation, high voltage, switchgear, mining, rail, defence, heavy industry, construction or similar),
  • Create, review and critique designs, test plans, procedures and reports,
  • Adhere to ISO 9001 quality work practices,
  • Assess engineering risks in accordance with ISO 31000,
  • Develop and maintain engineering deliverable plans while tracking task progress for their team as a key conduit for the Project Management team,
  • Task planning and basic project management skills
  • Customer facing skills,
  • Maintain an interdependent safety culture within their team,
