DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION – Senior Project Accountant

Position Summary:

The Senior Accountant position is a key role in the Operations team within Nordstrom Design and Construction. This role manages the project budget process from new project requests through final project close out. This includes but is not limited to the accounting review of proposed projects, the processing, tracking and recording of invoices related to Nordstrom Design and Construction projects, contract administration which includes managing Consultant and General Contractor contracts, Vendor Reimbursement Agreements and reconciling project costs between purchasing systems and the general ledger system for all projects managed by the Nordstrom Design and Construction team. This includes communicating deadlines and providing reporting and analysis to internal team members and Nordstrom business partners.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the new project request process including review, route to Finance for approval and submit to Fixed Assets to create new projects in their system.
• Calculate and submit related retirements/accelerations for new projects.
• Manage project cost reconciliations between the purchase order management systems (POMS and Coupa) and Oracle.
• Work with Project Managers and NDC Operations team to prepare and review monthly estimated depreciation reports and other reports shared with business partners.
• Prepare, analyze and submit project accrual reporting information to Fixed Assets.
• Manage contract administration process including review and processing of contractor payment applications and change orders.
• Manage Designer Brand budget and vendor reconciliation process. Collection of related Vendor Reimbursements.
• Manage NDC portion of “A” project items. On an annual basis, calculate NDC related commitments for the 10-K and any other reports as needed by Corporate Accounting.
• Prepare and distribute store statistics report as required.
• Operate efficiently and employ effective problem-solving and collaboration skills.
• Contribute positively to overall daily functioning of the team and cross train employees in department practices as needed.
• Review operating requirements, practices and procedures. Determine whether improvements can be made and work to implement changes as appropriate.
• Research and develop or enhance reporting tools that support the responsibilities of our team.

Skills and Competencies:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
• Experience with Fixed Asset, Construction or Property Development Industry accounting preferred.
• Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite, with advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills. Experience with Oracle, Coupa, Concur and Smartsheet a plus.
• Exceptional organizational skills with an ability to prioritize, multi-task and overcome obstacles with a positive “can do” attitude in a fast-paced and detail driven environment.
• Ability to think creatively and strategically to execute and deliver high results.
• High level of curiosity, ownership, accountability, and initiative.
• Highly analytical, able to research questions and review facts to make accurate decisions, summarize data and create meaningful reports.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in both one-on-one and group settings.
• Ability to comprehend, interpret and analyze procedures, instructions, and communications.
• Strong mathematical acumen with high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Washington: $80,000- $132,000 annuallyThis position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more.
