The Role
As the Product Owner for the Backend Platforms, you will hold a unique position that combines technical expertise with a product-led mindset. The Enterprise Architecture backend team is on a mission to leverage and develop core platforms and internal tools, ensuring Kaizen’s architectural landscape remains innovative, scalable, and robust..
In this role, you will lead the development and integration of solutions such as our Internal Developer Portal (IDP), Developer Intelligence (DevEx) platform, CMS, and Translation Management Systems. You will apply a hybrid approach—building custom solutions where they add value and implementing best-in-class third-party tools where appropriate. You are passionate about core platform solutions and recognize that internal tools are products in their own right, requiring the same level of strategy, care, and user focus as customer-facing features. Your goal is to ensure these backend platforms are technically superior and widely adopted and deliver measurable impact across the organization.
Requirements
- Technical Backlog Ownership: Leverage your engineering background to translate complex architectural goals into a clear, high-quality product backlog.
- Platform Vision: Own the lifecycle and strategic direction of core backend products, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with company standards.
- Driving Internal Adoption: Lead the internal rollout of platform tools, ensuring engineering and business teams actively adopt and derive value from the solutions.
- Strategic Communication: Align the platform roadmap with diverse stakeholders, managing expectations and balancing competing priorities.
- Success Monitoring: Define and track KPIs to monitor the success, performance, and adoption rates of all backend products.
- Backlog Prioritization: Balance technical debt and infrastructure maintenance with the delivery of new platform features.
- Ceremony Leadership: Lead backlog refinement sessions and participate in all Agile ceremonies to ensure the team operates with clear, actionable goals.
What You'll Bring
- 4+ years of experience as a Technical Product Owner/Manager, or in a similar role within a software development environment.
- A solid background in software engineering or systems architecture, enabling effective collaboration with backend engineering teams.
- Genuine enthusiasm for building tools for developers and improving the company’s internal technology ecosystem.
- Strong ability to understand abstract technical concepts and translate them into a clear, compelling product vision.
- Proven capability to influence without authority, moving stakeholders from skepticism to active adoption through clear value articulation.
- Solid knowledge and practical application of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban).
- Proven ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and across a variety of disciplines to drive platform evolution and architectural excellence.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly to both engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.
- Exceptional ability to manage internal dependencies and alignment across multiple teams and stakeholders at all levels.
