About the team:

Tempus' AI Applications Platform is the AI-enabled, platform architecture that supports managing, analyzing and delivering multi-modal datasets to several products impacting clinical care. These products leverage the platform to help with adherence to clinical guidelines, identification for clinical research, proactive cancer screening and other innovative opportunities. In particular, the AI Apps Platform ingests multimodal data, runs AI-based algorithms, and surfaces insights for care teams to evaluate and take action through targeted notifications directly at the point of care. 

At Tempus, products are owned and developed by small, autonomous teams composed of developers, designers, scientists, and product managers. You, as the head of product for the Apps Platform, and your team set the goals, build the software, deploy the code, and contribute to a growing software platform that will make a lasting impact in the field of cancer research and treatment.

What we are looking for in you:

  • You have a proven track record of working in large technology teams and driving them towards achieving common goals. You inspire, motivate, and guide others towards success.
  • You have the ability to develop strategic product roadmaps, ensuring alignment with the overall organizational goals.
  • You have experience working with healthcare datasets
  • You have demonstrated success in working collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Software Engineers, QA Engineers, UX/UI Designers, and other stakeholders.
  • You have strong project management skills, excellent organizational and communication skills combined with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges
  • You have a strong understanding of software projects’ development, roll-out, and support processes
  • You are comfortable utilizing health-oriented software applications & project management software applications
  • You have a demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and evolving environment. 
  • You are comfortable with ambiguity and can manage change effectively.

What you will do:

  • Lead the Platform product team and roadmap, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Champion the company values and the product vision (*the right care for the right patient at the right time*)
  • Acquire deep knowledge of the platform requirements and represent its needs across business units and within AI Apps
  • Provide guidance and support to the engineering team as they execute development work
  • Create, coordinate and execute roadmap initiatives through detailed feature requirements for the engineering, QA, and design teams to fully understand the scope of functionality and business drivers, so they can estimate and deliver in a timely manner with high-quality
  • Dive into the details – from business logic to the high-level technical perspective – effectively turning high-level ideas and requirements into functional/technical specifications
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with all groups in the organization over the entire product development lifecycle from requirements gathering to release to rollout training (Reporting, Account Management, Engineering, Sales, and Research teams)
  • Collaborate and work with the Compliance team to ensure continuing compliance and service as security contact for the Product team

Required Skills

  • 5+ years’ experience working directly with software engineering teams -- preferably in a product management or business analyst type of role 
  • BA/BS degree in a technical or clinical field, OR equivalent practical experience
  • Some light programming experience or general technical aptitude
  • Ability to work autonomously with a balanced team approach – you don't need to wait for directions, but know when buy-in is critical
  • Attention to detail and comfort optimizing and improving processes and the overall approach where necessary
  • Dynamic problem-solving skills and a love for figuring out solutions 
  • An entrepreneurial spirit and excited to work on complex problems at scale 
  • Understanding of physician and hospital dynamics and the constantly evolving healthcare landscape
  • Experience with HIPAA Compliance

Illinois Pay Range - $110,000 - $160,000

The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from Illinois and may vary for other locations (California, Colorado, New York). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience. Tempus offers a full range of benefits, which may include incentive compensation, restricted stock units, medical and other benefits depending on the position.
