Job Summary

The Senior Product Manager is primarily responsible for the strategy, planning, delivery, performance and continuous improvement of new products & capabilities developed by the team as well as existing products & capabilities. This role is expected to be a proven leader and builder with energy and deep competencies to envision the right experience for customers, drive execution, and scale the portfolio of features to address the business opportunity and enable rapid growth. The Senior Product Manager has the primary responsibility for Risk and Compliance for their assigned value stream. Where applicable, they mentor and support Product Managers across value streams and support Product Owners and development teams to ensure that there is clarity around the product vision and roadmap.


 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Strategy & Roadmap: Owns the product and planning the product roadmap. Creates and defines the long-term vision and strategy for the product. Observes trends in the marketplace, identifies new potential outcomes or themes to be supported by the product. Outlines the go to market plan supporting the sales/adoption of the product, ensures the product meets the needs of the value stream(s) the product is involved with. Conducts the necessary analysis to support the business case for the program strategy/execution /need. Uses data and facts to support decision making for senior leaders. Identifies capability gaps and drives products that unlock tangible business value. Participates in analysis of current and future trends, technology, competition, and client & customer needs to support strategy and product development. Identifies key customer needs, usage and attitudes as basis for refining programs and messaging. Ensure the Bank’s programs are differentiated and well positioned against national competitors. Ability to think strategically and understand the bigger picture, with a mindset that balances business priorities and customer priorities/expectations. Ability to develop and articulate well thought out business cases and their financial / bottom line impacts. Ability to operate simultaneously and effectively in both tactical and strategic mode. 

  • Product Definition and Delivery: Engage with internal/external customers to conduct in-depth research to understand their needs, while identifying and incorporating disruptive capabilities. Direct, create, and execute product plans to deliver new features, adoption programs, customer surveys. Define the business requirements, customer experience priorities and build UX with our design team. Provide leadership and direction in the development of enhancements to improve efficiency, quality, and timeliness of operations. Develops detailed business requirements that can be used to create product specifications and architecture. Ensures continued compliance with Information Security Policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and documented controls. Supports the product delivery team & method. Drives delivery of customer experience and meeting business priorities and demands. Experience and understanding of Agile development methodologies. Experience with end-to-end product delivery. 

  • Product Performance and Continuous Improvement: Primary owner for value stream audit resolutions, business impact analysis and process improvements requiring technology support and operational excellence (regulatory compliance, operational risk management, etc.). Defines metrics to measure the success of the features and products put into the market. Ensures the value proposition is realized across customer touch points. Ongoing analysis and reporting of product performance, KPIs, market trends, as well as planning and forecasting. Identify, own and manage to key business drivers with support from Finance. Analyzes operational and technical issues and works to ensure process improvements include appropriate internal controls. Continuously seek ways to improve the product features and deliver excellent customer experience through system and process enhancements. Results-oriented, with ability to successfully manage multiple, complex initiatives under tight deadlines.  

  • Active Leadership: Bring to market and manage new & complex, customer-driven digital products, and services. Work across the organization to prioritize customer needs and manage product feature sets to deliver digital products that exceed customer expectations. Participate in the product lifecycle from requirements gathering through production and release. Develop business scope and business case metrics. Work with the internal digital design team to create user experience scenarios for products. Primary point of contact with systems vendor, technology, line of business, marketing, and customer service partners to ensure the ongoing success of products & capabilities. Maintain information on service performance and application metrics for analysis and reporting to management. Provide transparency to business and technology leadership on project status and product development issues. Manage ongoing risk associated with digital applications and specific application features. Conduct competitive analysis. Help drive adoption and use by developing digital marketing campaigns in partnership with marketing teams. Other product management tasks that may be required from time-to-time. Mentor junior level colleagues as necessary. Demonstrated strategic thinking and analytical skills; prior financial management experience. Possess strong problem solving skills and the ability to thoroughly investigate and make recommendations in a timely manner. Experience with lean startup methodology - design experiments by building MVPs to find product-market fit. Ability to communicate vision to stakeholders. Effective communicator and presenter with ability to adjust message and filter details appropriately for the audience 

  • Analytics: Understanding of key Financial Measures (Revenue and expenses), and their impact on the business. Ability to grasp and synthesize financial metrics around the product concepts as it relates to pricing, risk, sales trends and competitive information. Refine product management strategies through detailed analysis of key business drivers, ongoing competitive research, global market scan and review of marketing tactics. Product management and development, including analyzing customer behavior, analyzing competitors’ offerings and the industry landscape to enhance our product offering and customer experience. Uses data to continuously inform and improve the product to meet customer and business needs.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Normal office environment, some travel may be required. 

  • This position is hybrid with an onsite schedule of 3-4 days per month. In-office requirements are subject to change based on business needs. This position is currently available to candidates that reside within 60 miles of New York, NY or Columbus, OH.

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Management, Finance or Information Technology.

  • Eight or more years experience in Product Management, Business Analysis, Information Technology, etc.; financial management experience; understanding of Agile development methodologies; end-to-end product delivery; Foundation of product management/marketing management, at various levels; and lean startup methodology - design experiments by building MVPs to find product-market fit.

Preferred Experience: 

  • Master’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Management, Finance or Information Technology.

  • Experience building online collections & credit card repayment journeys for customers on digital platforms;

  • Ten or more years work experience (two or more leading/managing others) in Product Management, Business Analysis, Information Technology, etc.; financial management experience; understanding of Agile development methodologies; end-to-end product delivery; Foundation of product management/marketing management, at various levels; and lean startup methodology - design experiments by building MVPs to find product-market fit.

Typical Starting Range:

$120,500.00 - $218,300.00

Full Salary Range for position:

California: $138,600.00 - $272,900.00Colorado: $120,500.00 - $229,200.00New York: $132,500.00 - $272,900.00Washington: $126,500.00 - $251,100.00Maryland: $126,500.00 - $229,200.00Washington DC: $138,600.00 - $251,100.00

The actual base pay within this range may be dependent upon many factors, which may include, but are not limited to, work location, education, experience, and skills.

Bread Financial offers medical, prescription drug, dental, vision, and other voluntary benefits (including basic and optional life insurance, supplemental medical plans, and short and long-term disability) to eligible associates (regular full-time associates scheduled to work 30 hours per week or more) and their spouses/domestic partners, and child(ren) under the age of 26. New associate elected coverage begins on date of hire (with the exception of disability coverage which has a 6-month waiting period). Six weeks of 100% paid parental leave for eligible parents is available after a 180-day waiting period. Hired associates can immediately enroll in Bread Financial’s 401(k) plan.

All associates receive 11 paid holidays. Associates have discretion in managing their time away from work through the Flexible Time Off (FTO) program and may need to notify and receive approval from their manager prior to taking the time off. Associates (except those located in Illinois) receive 80 hours of Paid Sick and Safe Time (“PSST”) upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois associates receive 40 hours of Illinois PSST upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year and 40 hours of Illinois Paid Leave upon hire and at the beginning of each subsequent calendar year. Illinois Paid Leave must be used before associates in Illinois will be approved to take FTO.

Hired associates will be able to elect the purchase company stock during offering periods in June and December. You will be eligible for an annual incentive bonus based on individual and company performance.
