Summary Generated by Built In
As a Senior Product Manager for Launch, you will play a critical role in one of the most important parts of the customer journey - implementing the system on a farm, training animals and users, and setting both up for a long and successful future with Halter.

Halter is a psychological and physical step-change for our customers - it isn’t like onboarding to your typical consumer SaaS product. The system interacts with the land, the animals and the people on a farm, so it is vital we do a good job of launching each and every customer with a high degree of precision and care. That said, we have big ambitions and growth plans, so we need to be able to do it in a way that scales. We need to delete steps where it makes sense, lean into automation and productisation where possible, and know when to apply a human touch for maximum impact.

Your job will be to immerse yourself in this space, and orchestrate the development of a world-class launch process, working closely with our customers and subject-matter experts on both the product and go-to-market sides of the business.

What you'll do

  • Own the productisation of launch, end-to-end. Take full ownership of this problem space - understanding the status quo - what we do now and why we do it that way - and then working with our launch team, other product teams and our customers to discover, defining and deliver impactful improvements to this part of the customer journey.
  • Lead continuous discovery and delivery. Continuous discovery and development, leveraging learnings and technical progress, to make launch and onboarding 1% better every day. Throw away the textbook frameworks and processes - our product and the way it is implemented by our customers is unique - be pragmatic and nimble to identify impactful opportunities and deliver results.
  • Spend time with customers and internal experts, in their shoes. Direct engagement with farmers in the field, as well as internal experts, to gather insights and feedback to inform the problems and opportunities we focus on. What are the things that align what is best for Halter and best for our customers?
  • Make high-quality product decisions. Set clear priorities, make trade-offs, and focus on the work that will deliver the greatest impact. You’ll balance short-term wins with long-term direction in a fast-moving environment.
  • Shape product strategy. Identify a north star for launching customers, and use that to influence Halter’s product strategy, as well as identifying how advancements in Halter’s product influences the way we launch customers. You’ll look ahead to where technology, customer needs and the industry are going - not just where they are today.
  • Be a product advocate and storyteller. Clearly communicate the “why” behind what we’re building. You will have stakeholders across Halter, as well as in every single customer that implements Halter on their farm - you need to bring them on the journey and help them understand the big picture for every step of the launch process.
  • Leverage AI and automation. The state of AI and automation changes by the day. Ignoring this means getting left behind. You will invest the time understanding how AI can be leveraged to increase the amount of work you get done, as well as the velocity of that work.

Who you are:

  • An experienced Product Manager with proven impact. You’ve shipped products that matter and can point to outcomes, not just outputs. You care deeply about building things that solve real problems in the real world. Experience with the onboarding stages of the customer journey, especially during periods of rapid scale, is a bonus.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and complexity. You don’t need everything to be defined up-front. You’re confident navigating uncertainty, breaking down messy problems, testing ideas, and iterating toward better solutions.
  • Highly curious and eager to learn. You enjoy becoming an expert in your domain and you’re motivated by understanding how things really work.
  • Strong at prioritisation and focus. You can cut through noise, identify the signal, and make hard calls about what not to do. You understand that progress comes from focus, not feature volume.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI and automation. You know your way around relevant AI tooling, and understand how to leverage it effectively in the work you do as a force multiplier.
  • A clear and compelling communicator. You can articulate problems, decisions and trade-offs simply and effectively to a wide range of audiences - from engineers to farmers to executives.
  • A collaborative partner. You work exceptionally well with engineers, designers and cross-functional stakeholders. You value different perspectives and believe great products come from strong teams.
  • Resilient and hands-on. You’re not afraid to get uncomfortable, take unconventional paths and get your hands dirty (literally) to get results. You expect things to go wrong - and adapt quickly when they do.
  • You have great product taste. You care about simplicity, usability and elegance. You sweat the details because you know they matter, especially for complex products used in demanding, real-world environments.

What sets Halter apart from most SaaS companies?

  • Halter is real-world in every sense. Our product becomes a digital twin of land and animals. It guides animals, models land, and monitors behaviour in real time. Product decisions have immediate, physical consequences in the real world.
  • We build for an extreme spectrum of users. Some of our customers are data-hungry and AI-fluent. For others, this may be the first technology - especially a mobile app - they’ve used to run their business. Crafting products that work beautifully across this spectrum is hard, and it’s critical to get right.
  • We are exceptionally close to our customers. You will talk to farmers constantly. You’ll hear feedback early, often, and unfiltered - both good and bad. The best insights often come from being in the field, which usually means gumboots and standing almost literally in our customers’ shoes.
  • We take risks and blaze new trails. Much of what we build has no existing template. Greenfield product, technical and design challenges are common, and our willingness to tackle them head-on is what keeps us ahead of the competition.
  • We turn ideas into reality, fast. We have world-class designers and engineers who bring concepts to life with speed and quality. As quickly as we can define a solution, we look for lightweight ways to test it in the field. Prototypes and conversations are useful, but our most valuable learning comes from seeing real products used by real farmers, doing real work.

Why Halter?

Our solar-powered smart collars, paired with our digital software platform, make it possible for farmers to virtually fence and remotely shift their cattle, monitor each animal’s behaviour, reproduction and health 24/7, and track the production of pasture and other forages across their land, in real time.

Our mission is to become the operating system for cattle farming, and revolutionise one of the world’s most important industries — one that has operated with the same constraints and practices for centuries. Halter helps our customers become more profitable AND more sustainable.

Halter is committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace — a place where we can each be ourselves and do the best work of our lives. Research shows that while men apply to jobs when they meet an average of 60% of the requirements, women and under-represented groups of candidates tend to only apply when they meet every requirement. If you think you have what it takes but don’t necessarily tick every requirement on this job description, please still get in touch and apply to Halter. We’d love to chat to see if you’ll be an epic fit!

If this opportunity sounds like you, please apply below by sending through your cover letter explaining why you’re excited about this role and working at Halter, along with your CV, and we’ll be in touch!
