The Role

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • This is a Hybrid role requiring 3 days/week in Northbrook office
  • The Senior Product Manager - Industrial Automation will help establish and support the product vision for the segment globally, in concert with deep market understanding, to inform the core and new product strategy
  • Evaluate market needs against UL Solutions and competitors and understand their unique abilities to address them
  • Support and contribute to the go-to-market strategy for Industrial Automation, describing how value will be delivered to the customer/user, how UL's products are differentiated from the competition, and what the business model should be in a given market. This includes prioritization of product functions and features into product roadmaps and a product pipeline.
  • Monitor a set of product goals, outcomes and corresponding metrics to continually evaluate against and drive future activities and strategies
  • Evangelizing and communicating the product vision, strategy and goals internally and externally is a critical responsibility of this role
  • Support career development needs of direct reports, by clearly defining expectations for their current role, actively soliciting their career aspirations and helping close any gaps.
  • Support an efficient cross-functional matrix structure to enable effective product development lifecycle management
  • execute a robust set of processes to power all parts of the product development lifecycle from research/discovery to release/launch management and product support
  • Leverage a standard set of product management tools with the product team to drive efficient and effective product lifecycle management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitation skills - ability to lead small to medium groups of internal and external stakeholders towards desired outcomes in order to meet business objectives
  • Interview skills - ability to conduct discovery sessions with clients, prospects and stakeholders in order to diagnose business opportunities, elicit requirements, and conduct other types of research and analysis
  • Strong communication and presentation (PowerPoint) skills
  • Product management tools - product/service design, analysis (Power BI), product/service development task management and project management, documentation and knowledge (SharePoint), collaboration (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Slack), roadmap and portfolio management (and related software tools)
  • Formal training and/or certification in Product Management is a plus.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • University Degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline
  • 5+ years of technical or business experience in Industrial Automation, Robotics, Industry 4.0 or a related industry field
  • 5+ years of related discipline experience or demonstrated competency in Product Management
  • Experience working with remote teams is highly valued
  • Project Management certification is a plus.
