Job Overview

At Mainspring, Product Managerssit at the intersection of engineering, sales, marketing, installation, and maintenance to ensure that all of these elements come together to deliver successful products that maximize value for both customers and Mainspring.  Our ideal Senior Product Manager has a technical background and the ability to communicate well with people from many different functional backgrounds and different types of roles within and outside of our company. They enjoy engaging with customers, engineers, and consultants to fully identify customer needs and translate them into scalable technical specifications for Mainspring’s teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full product management process from opportunity identification through full product release
  • Identify, define, and quantify market opportunities and requirements by performing market research, customer interviews, economic analysis, and competitor benchmarking
  • Develop product requirement documentation and collaborate with engineering teams to make trade-offs between customer needs, technical capabilities, performance and cost; and create quantitative analysis tools to enable clear visibility into these trade-offs
  • Collaborate with internal Mainspring teams across sales, marketing, installation, and maintenance to develop product documentation and marketing materials
  • Track and reconcile key technical and commercial dependencies for product initiatives for regular updates to the product roadmap and plan of record
  • Participate in customer meetings, industry events, and ecosystem discussions as a credible, technically fluent representative of Mainspring’s perspective

Qualifications

  • 8-10+ years of relevant professional experience, with at least 3-4 years doing work in power generation
  • Successful release(s) of non-consumer products, ideally industrial hardware products
  • Technical background, with ideally a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Experience working with engineering, sales, and installation teams
  • Strong communication skills and ability to form relationships with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders 
  • Analysis, reasoning, and organizational skills to function well in a fast-paced startup environment

New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.
