Company Description

Are you ready to be a big part of something big?

At carsales, we’re all about making buying and selling a great experience. Since 1997, we’ve been evolving with the new economy to help people choose how they move today and tomorrow.

When it comes to your career, we want to offer meaningful opportunities that empower you to make a lasting impact. But for that to happen, we strive to feel small - small enough to stay agile, learn across teams, and connect authentically with each other.

With a vision to be the global leader in online vehicle marketplaces, we’re transforming how people buy and sell across the world. We discover new ideas and bring them to life. We continue to grow, and we continue to evolve, and we’re not afraid to take bold steps to get there.

As Senior Product Manager - AI you will own the performance, growth and strategic direction of the product as a true business leader, not just a feature owner. You will be accountable for identifying opportunities, shaping strategy and driving execution end-to-end, from idea through to delivery, optimisation and measurable commercial impact.

You will operate with a strong commercial lens, using customer / market insights and performance data to make decisive calls that grow consumer engagement, revenue and long-term value for our customers. Balancing long-term vision and ownership of the current business performance, you will continuously evolve the consumer experience and product offering in line with clear targets, while identifying future opportunities that drive sustained growth and deepen customer loyalty.

We embrace hybrid working combining the flexibility of remote work with the energy and connection of in-person collaboration. We champion flexibility and offer a range of policies and leave options to support your wellbeing.

What’s on offer:

  • A place where you can move your career forward, where you’ll be continuously backed to make new ideas happen, and the chance to do work that makes real, significant impact in the world.
  • We’re proud to be recognised as one of Australia’s Best Workplaces™ by Great Place to Work®, a Family Friendly Workplace and a WORK180 endorsed employer for women.
  • The support of a highly engaged, high-performing team including a leadership team that you’ll actually have face time with.
  • 24 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers, four weeks paid secondary caregivers leave and paid family & fertility planning leave.

Job Description

What you’ll be doing

  • Shape the product vision by defining strategy and delivering experiences that drive customer engagement, growth and long‑term value.
  • Own channel performance by optimising the consumer experience and commercial outcomes through experimentation, clear prioritisation and strong accountability for targets.
  • Identify and shape new opportunities by uncovering emerging customer needs, designing product solutions and bringing them to market to unlock growth.
  • Validate ideas at pace by running experiments and tests to continuously improve key metrics and outcomes.
  • Turn data into decisions by synthesising customer, product and market insights into clear, actionable priorities.
  • Drive cross‑squad alignment by managing dependencies and delivering outcomes through close collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
  • Build strong partnerships by working effectively with internal teams, vendors and external partners.
  • Influence at a senior level by defining and clearly communicating compelling product strategies to key stakeholders.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

We're looking for an experienced hands-on product leader with a track record of taking an idea and turning it into reality. You thrive in ambiguity, love solving hard problems, and are comfortable using data to validate your gut feel.

  • Experience building and running commercial products.
  • Experience scaling AI & Personalisation products to millions of users.
  • Highly experienced in a product or product design role (or similar commercial product orientated role).
  • A curious mind and the ability to think outside of the box, breaking the mould of how things are done today.
  • Extensive product toolkit so you know which tool, process, or framework to use for which job.
  • A strong and clear communicator that thrives in a very fast paced environment and is comfortable with ambiguity and rapid change.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with cross-functional teams, influencing and championing change in a business beyond your own squad.

We know not everyone will meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If you’re excited about the role and believe you can make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
