The Product Manager II – Financial Consolidations serves as the primary owner for the Financial Consolidations capability within BlackLine’s Financial Controls & Automation Platform. In this role, you will lead the vision, strategy, and execution for modernizing and enhancing how complex, global enterprises perform multi-entity financial roll-ups, intercompany eliminations, foreign currency translations, and consolidated group reporting.You'll Get To:
Core Responsibilities
Research: Constantly gather insights from global clients, enterprise prospects, industry analysts, accounting advisory partners, and internal stakeholders. Keep abreast of market shifts, competitive intelligence, statutory financial reporting standards (e.g., US GAAP, IFRS), and enterprise financial software trends.
Roadmap: Create, publish, and maintain both internal and external product roadmaps. Balance new features, architectural enhancements, design refinements, and technical debt to ensure engineering efforts directly align with BlackLine’s strategic financial consolidation vision.
Feature Design: Own the lifecycle of product initiatives from concept to production. Write detailed Epics and Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), collaborate with UX/UI designers to craft intuitive workflows for complex financial processes, and partner with Security, Architecture, Compliance, and Legal stakeholders.
Product Development: Serve as a core leader within the engineering team responsible for delivery. Write clear user stories, participate actively in backlog grooming and sprint planning, and help clear blockers to maximize output quality, performance, and code reliability.
Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as BlackLine’s domain expert on Financial Consolidations. Maintain a deep understanding of corporate accounting operations, multi-subsidiary rollup structures, currency revaluation/translation, and equity eliminations. Leverage this knowledge to support sales enablement, customer success, product marketing, and executive discussions.
Leadership: Provide clear, decisive leadership across cross-functional technical teams. Act as an informed voice who drives complex projects to successful release while inspiring teams around a shared vision.
Specific Duties & Focus Areas
Lead the strategic direction and functional evolution of BlackLine's Financial Consolidations solution, enabling customers to automate and streamline enterprise group closings.
Translate CFO, Controller, and Consolidation Manager priorities into high-impact software features and scalable technical requirements.
Drive innovation across key consolidation workflows, including:
Multi-entity account mapping and trial balance aggregation.
Intercompany balancing, automatic elimination entries, and cross-border settlement logic.
Multi-currency translation, foreign exchange (FX) gain/loss calculations, and CTA (Cumulative Translation Adjustment) tracking.
Non-controlling interest (NCI) calculations, complex ownership hierarchies, and joint venture/subsidiary consolidation rules.
Financial reporting workflows, statutory reporting compliance, and audit trail validation.
Foster a collaborative development environment, establishing robust processes to ensure high-quality software delivery on predictable schedules.
Mentor junior and incoming members of the Product Management team.
Scope of Responsibility
Receives general strategic direction while maintaining full discretion to set the vision and roadmap for the Financial Consolidations product suite.
Operates with autonomy, driving product execution with limited day-to-day oversight while meeting project milestones.
Serves as the primary Product Owner for one or more dedicated engineering and UX scrum teams.
What You'll Bring:
Domain Experience: Minimum 2+ years of hands-on experience with Financial Consolidations, Corporate Closing Software, or Enterprise ERP Financials (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud Financials, Workday, OneStream, Anaplan, HFM/FCCS).
Overall Experience: 3–4 years in Product Management, with 6–10 years of overall career experience in software product management, financial engineering, or enterprise accounting tech.
Education: Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related technical/business discipline. An active CPA or background in audit/financial controller roles is a plus.
Technical & Specialized Skills
Deep knowledge of multi-entity financial consolidation concepts, intercompany eliminations, foreign currency translation mechanisms, and group financial reporting standards.
Strong ability to translate complex financial concepts into intuitive UI design requirements and technical user stories.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage CFOs, controllers, enterprise architects, and software engineers alike.
Proven leadership abilities with a proactive approach to decision-making and cross-functional project management.
Excellent quantitative, analytical, and troubleshooting skills with high attention to precision and data integrity.
