Senior Product Engineer
PayTrace- Remote, US
What you'll be doing:
The primary focus of the Senior Product Engineer is to create and maintain systems written in various programming languages and databases. The ideal candidate for this position has experience coding in a deadline-driven, multi-project environment and creating an intuitive user experience. The primary responsibility of the Product Engineer will focus on hands-on development & coding.
Develop, Test, and Maintain existing and new systems
Deal with tight deadlines and changing requirements
Collaborate with other Engineers, Developers, Architects, Quality Assurance, System Engineers, Project Managers, Scrum Masters in solving new and existing technical challenges
Work independently to write complex code
Independently design solutions and database structures
Responsible to merge code to release builds and deploy to various environments
Mentor/Assist Junior Engineers
Participate and provide inputs in the various Architecture topics/discussions
Required Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent education/experience.
4+ years of professional-level Object Oriented Programming experience with C# or Python, including experience with MVC frameworks
4+ years experience with .NET environment
3+ years of ReactJS, AngularJS or other JavaScript framework
Ability to explain complex ideas and concepts to business users
Ability to design software solutions with minimal guidance
Experience with Web Standards philosophies and modern XHTML/HTML/HTML5/CSS markup
Experience designing databases and writing efficient SQL queries
Experience working in an Agile environment.
2+ years Linux/Ubuntu experience
2+ years of AWS or other cloud computing experience
Experience with SOAP, REST or similar web service
Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment
Required Knowledge & Skills:
Excellent team player and team builder
Ability to work with minimal supervision in a very dynamic, and timeline-sensitive work environment
Ability to understand technical issues at a high level
Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
Must have exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills
Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Preferred Experience:
MSSQL, PostgreSQL Database Design and Administration
ERP experience (Acumatica, Microsoft Business Central, Microsoft Great Plain, NetSuite).
Understanding Invoicing, Quoting, etc.
Familiarity with Payment Processing (Stripe, etc.)
Message Queue technologies such as RabbitMQ or SQS
Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment
Git source control and Gitflow
Unit Testing, Test Driven Development, Functional Testing
Command Line, Bash, VIM, Shell Scripting

Skills Required
- Minimum of 4 years related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 6 years relevant experience without a Bachelor's degree
- Proficiency in at least one programming language and capability in another (C#, Java, PHP, Ruby, Python, JavaScript, etc.)
- Relational database design and principles
- Source Control Management (Git)
- Transact-SQL
- Public cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
- CI/CD tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Docker, Jenkins
- Knowledge of common web security vulnerabilities and their defenses
- Performance analysis and improvement experience
- Experience achieving PCI DSS validation or similar certification
- Strong communication skills and high emotional intelligence
- Experience leading architecture, code reviews, mentoring, and scrum team leadership
- Ability to create and maintain documentation, models, and diagrams
- Operates with a growth mindset and ability to learn new technologies quickly
- Understanding of SaaS software development standards, patterns, and practices
- Strong understanding of clean and maintainable code principles
