How you will make an impact:

As a Senior Product Engineer at Meissner, you will lead technically complex product development programs in a high-velocity environment. You will own major development efforts from design through manufacturing readiness, coordinating cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure products meet performance, quality, and schedule requirements. Success in this role requires strong engineering leadership, the ability to manage technical risk, and a deep understanding of how design decisions impact manufacturing and business outcomes.

  • Drive complex product design by owning key technical decisions and ensuring designs meet reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability requirements.
  • Guide injection molded product design decisions including tooling strategy, gating and venting considerations, tolerance schemes, and molding process capability to ensure robust and manufacturable designs. Mentor engineers in effective molded component design and supplier collaboration.
  • Lead development of bioprocessing capital equipment by defining system architecture and ensuring integration across machined, sheet metal, welded, and purchased components. Guide decisions related to assembly methods, serviceability, tolerance stack-ups, and manufacturability while ensuring alignment with product requirements and manufacturing capabilities.
  • Drive fast and focused prototyping by integrating technical judgment, risk awareness, and efficient experimentation to assess feasibility and mitigate project risks. Guide teams in applying fail-fast strategies, optimizing time-to-decision, and designing appropriate DOEs to evaluate design decisions.
  • Strategically manage vendor relationships, evaluating capabilities and negotiating technical expectations for products/components. Drive continuity, scalability, and performance through long-term relationship stewardship.
  • Independently lead the development and execution of qualification and validation protocols. Analyze and interpret results to confirm production capability and process stability. Develop and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) to determine Proven Acceptable Ranges (PAR) and verify Critical Quality Attributes (CQAs).
  • Author and execute bioprocessing capital equipment FAT, SAT and IQ/OQ/PQ protocols with no oversight.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of complex or high-impact technical problems involving multiple assemblies, components, or cross-functional processes. Apply structured root cause analysis methods and guide teams through systematic problem-solving approaches.
  • Drive implementation of corrective and preventive actions while mentoring engineers in effective problem-solving practices.
  • Serve as subject matter expert on all technical aspects of the product-lifecycle for products developed in this role. Can present and defend application-specific use of these products, articulating capabilities and limits. Knowledgeable of the product portfolio and their end-use applications. Contributes to technical discussions of the product portfolio and its expansion.
  • Direct cross-functional efforts to develop and validate comprehensive requirement sets. Guide teams in managing requirement changes and ensuring that evolving needs are balanced with technical feasibility and business goals.
  • Designs and builds assemblies within the CAD/PDM system while ensuring proper configuration, documentation, and compliance with Product Engineering standards. Demonstrates strong understanding of design review processes and PDM workflows. Able to act as both a Checker and Approver for submitted designs and drawings through the PDM system, ensuring that designs meet project requirements and engineering standards. Provides suggestions and improvements to protocols or processes and helps reinforce consistent design data management practices across the department.
  • Define technical scope and engineering specifications for complex or high-impact programs. Provide authoritative timeline estimates across interconnected engineering workstreams and guide cross-functional teams on technical sequencing, dependencies, and risk. Mentor engineers in translating requirements into clear, actionable specifications and realistic schedules.
  • Execute and lead complex or high-impact projects involving multiple teams. Ensure project milestones, deliverables, and validation activities are completed in alignment with technical scope, schedule commitments, and business objectives. Drive cross-functional coordination, remove execution barriers, and manage project risks and changes while continuing to contribute directly to technical execution and project deliverables. Mentor junior engineers and support consistent project execution practices.
  • Anticipate and manage risks across complex and high-impact projects involving interdepartmental teams. Evaluate systemic risks that may impact technical feasibility, schedule commitments, resource availability, or regulatory/validation requirements. Lead development of mitigation strategies, drive cross-functional alignment to resolve risk conditions, and guide engineers in effective risk identification and mitigation practices.
  • Champion collaboration across Product Engineering on complex, high-impact initiatives. Ensure organizational alignment on priorities and technical strategies. Mentor engineers in effective communication practices and lead resolution of challenging technical debates.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration for complex or high-impact projects involving multiple departments including but not limited to QA, Applications Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Supply Chain, Molding, Support Products, and MTS. Ensure alignment on technical approaches, project priorities, schedules, and qualification or validation activities while driving resolution of cross-functional challenges. Guide junior engineers in navigating interdepartmental collaboration and communication to ensure alignment and proper resolution development (as applicable).
