About Altium

Altium is transforming the way electronics are designed and built. Our cloud platform, Altium 365, enables distributed teams to collaborate seamlessly across the entire electronics development lifecycle - from design to manufacturing. By connecting people, processes, and data, Altium 365 helps teams move faster, reduce errors, and deliver high-quality hardware products at scale.

We are looking for a Senior Product Designer to shape end-to-end experiences across Altium 365.

In this role, you will operate at both strategic and hands-on levels, designing complex, data-rich, collaborative cloud workflows that help engineering teams work faster and with more confidence. You will partner closely with product management, engineering, and research to turn ambiguous problems into clear, usable, high-quality product experiences.

You will act as an owner and advocate for the customer, balancing deep technical constraints with the need for simple, intuitive interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Design Strategy & Ownership:

  • Define and drive the design vision and end-to-end experience for key areas of Altium 365.
  • Translate customer needs and business goals into clear design principles and product direction.
  • Make high-impact decisions on user flows, information architecture, and interaction models.

End-to-End Product Design:

  • Design intuitive, scalable experiences for complex, data-heavy, and collaborative workflows.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs across the full product lifecycle, from discovery to delivery.
  • Ensure designs support responsiveness, extensibility, and long-term product growth.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with product managers and engineering leaders to align design solutions with technical feasibility and business priorities.
  • Collaborate with design systems designers to apply and help evolve shared components, patterns, and tokens.
  • Act as a mentor and point of expertise for designers on your team.

Research & Validation:

  • Conduct or contribute to user research, usability testing, and discovery work to validate design decisions.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative feedback to iterate on designs and reduce risk before build.
  • Champion a customer-centered mindset across the product team.

Documentation & Communication:

  • Clearly document design rationale, flows, and specifications for engineering handoff.
  • Present design work and rationale to stakeholders, incorporating feedback effectively.
  • Ensure alignment with accessibility, usability, and quality standards.

Design–Engineering Alignment:

  • Work closely with front-end engineers to ensure designs are implemented with fidelity.
  • Help identify and reduce gaps between design intent and shipped experience.
  • Apply and contribute to the design system to maintain consistency across the platform.

Quality & Continuous Improvement:

  • Audit shipped product experiences to ensure consistency and usability.
  • Identify friction points and drive iterative improvements based on data and feedback.
  • Use metrics and customer feedback to continuously refine product experiences.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Intuitive, high-quality product experiences widely adopted by Altium 365 customers.
  • Strong alignment between design, product, and engineering, reducing rework and implementation inconsistencies.
  • Increased user satisfaction and efficiency through thoughtful, well-researched design solutions.
  • Consistent, high-quality user experience across all areas of the platform.
  • A culture of user-centered thinking embedded within the product organization.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience in product design, ideally for SaaS, cloud, or complex technical platforms.
  • Proven experience owning end-to-end design for features or products in a multi-team environment.
  • Strong systems thinking and experience designing for complex, data-rich workflows.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma (components, variables, tokens, prototyping).
  • Deep understanding of interaction design, responsiveness, and modern web application patterns.
  • Experience working closely with engineers and understanding front-end constraints.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SaaS or cloud platforms, especially collaborative or data-intensive products.
  • Strong understanding of design systems, tokens, and theming.
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks (e.g., Vue.js) and component-driven development.
  • Experience conducting or contributing to user research and usability testing.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience designing for complex technical or professional user workflows.
  • Ability to simplify and standardize data-dense, collaborative interfaces.
  • Passion for building products that empower teams and scale across evolving customer needs.
