About the Team:
The primary function of this role is to support the gathering, organizing, and analyzing large data sets using statistical techniques and tools, to ensure data quality, integrity and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Bank policies that assist management with making informed business decisions. Serves as liaison to the Bank's control groups and external vendors to ensure compliance with various controls and change management requirements. Implements technological solutions to support availability of analytical information being used by the business.
Impact
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading data analysis, model development and MRM activities leveraging statistical techniques and tools ensuring bank operates within the compliance established by the laws, regulations, bank policies and change management requirements.
Key Deliverables
Data Analysis – Lead advanced quantitative analyses to assess fraud risk, validate model performance, identify emerging threats, and drive enhancements to fraud prevention capabilities while ensuring strong data governance.
Model Development – Lead the design, validation, implementation, and ongoing performance monitoring of fraud detection models across digital and payment channels, optimizing detection effectiveness and customer experience.
Model Risk Management & Governance – Serve as a subject matter expert for Model Risk Management, overseeing model governance, performance monitoring, change management, issue remediation, and regulatory engagement while providing effective challenge to model design and assumptions.
Strategic Partnership & Leadership – Partner with senior leaders and key stakeholders to influence fraud strategy, drive model-related decisions, and communicate insights and recommendations to leadership and governance forums.
Skills and Qualification
Functional Skills:
Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or related discipline preferred. PhD in a quantitative discipline preferred.
12+ years of experience in fraud data modelling or any related quantitative fields is required.
Extensive experience with Model Risk Management (MRM), including model governance, validation, monitoring, documentation, regulatory engagement, and effective challenge.
Deep expertise in fraud risk analytics preferred, with direct experience developing, validating, or overseeing digital fraud models.
Experience in credit risk, BSA/AML, or related financial crime analytics functions preferred.
Expert-level proficiency in SQL and one or more analytical programming languages such as Python, R, or SAS.
Strong knowledge of statistical modeling, machine learning, model validation methodologies, and performance monitoring frameworks.
Experience presenting model findings and risk assessments to senior management, risk committees, auditors, and regulators.
Technical/Business Skills:
Strong understanding of banking regulations, model governance requirements, and industry best practices.
Prior people leadership, team lead, mentoring, or project leadership experience.
Must be able to work independently on assigned duties while successfully collaborating in a team friendly environment.
Strong organizational and time management skills are essential under tight deadlines.
Ability to independently prioritize deliverables and assignments.
