Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Process Automation Specialist to join our Centre of Organisational Excellence team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting the standard for how we do automation at Fastned and help building our process architecture while simultaneously identifying, designing, and implementing automation solutions across Fastned’s business processes. You will also manage process improvement and automation projects from initiation to delivery, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder needs. You will leverage a broad toolkit to drive efficiency, scalability, and quality in our operations.

• Governance & Strategy Alignment - You bring a strategic mindset and set the standard for how we do automation at Fastned. That means building and driving an organisation-wide governance framework from scratch and making sure our automation roadmap is tied directly to our overall company strategy.

• Process Analysis & Improvement - You'll map, analyse, and prioritise processes across the organisation — figuring out where the friction is, where the opportunity lies, and what's worth tackling first. From there, you lead improvement and automation projects end to end, keeping cross-functional teams aligned and milestones on track. You're the one who keeps things moving.

• Solution Design, Execution & Tooling - When it comes to solution design, you lead — and when needed, you can roll up your sleeves and get hands-on. You stay curious about what's out there, keeping an eye on the latest automation and AI tools so we're always working with the best. You act as a trusted advisor to business teams, facilitating workshops and training sessions on automation and process improvement best practices.

• Stakeholder Management & Reporting - You build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation, delivering structured, clear reporting on automation performance, progress and value delivered.

• You've done this before. You bring 5 to 8 years of experience in process management, automation, or improvement — and you've got the project track record to show for it. You know BPMN, you've led initiatives from discovery to delivery, and you don't need hand-holding to get things moving. Ideally you've thrived in a fast-moving, low-structure environment and have a background in Lean or continuous improvement methodology.

• You know your tools. RPA platforms like UiPath or Automation Anywhere, low-code tools like Make.com, Zapier, or n8n, and the Google Workspace ecosystem are all familiar territory. Ideally you are also familiar with Workato, Sitetracker, NetSuite, ServiceNow or Databricks. You're not tied to one stack but you pick what fits.

• You fix the process before you automate it. You're analytical, you love a good process map, and you understand that automating a broken process just makes things break faster. Getting to the root of a problem is as satisfying to you as solving it.

• You are a natural collaborator and a strong communicator. You are the kind of person who sits at the centre of a complex organisation and makes things connect. You are not a solo contributor but you bring people along with you, translate technical solutions into business value, and manage a wide range of stakeholders without losing your patience or your energy. You are comfortable speaking up, putting ideas on the table, and driving things forward even without formal authority.

• You're genuinely curious about AI. You follow what's happening in the GenAI and agentic automation space because you find it interesting, not because someone asked you to. You know what's useful, what's hype, and how to tell the difference.

• You speak English fluently in a business environment, Dutch is a nice bonus.
