Summary
The candidate will deliver process engineering
assurance services within the Corporate Engineering function, supporting
Project Delivery design engineer to achieve error-free designs, on-schedule
execution, and flawless project outcomes. This role ensures that all process designs
and discipline deliverables for assigned projects comply with applicable codes,
standards, and industry best practices, with a strong emphasis on safety and
reliability from conceptual design through to detailed engineering and
commissioning. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to engineering
studies aimed at solving business challenges and actively support the
identification, evaluation, and development of new technologies and initiatives
that drive continuous improvement across the organization.
Duties
& Responsibilities
1. MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide timely and pro-active technology supports for
integration of projects covering Masterplans for process, utility, plot layout,
product evacuation and gas supply; Reviews and audits with respect to
consistency and integrity at the interfaces; Development studies with various
SMEs for growth projects; Review, ensure and maintain quality of a critical
process safety document – Process Engineering Flow Schemes (PEFS); Plant
modifications related to the project interfaces prior to Management approval to
ensure operational integrity of the process plant.
- To deliver innovative and robust process engineering
solutions that meet client requirements, regulatory standards, and project
timelines, by Carrying out design reviews on in-house & third-party design
packages including, FEED, BDP, Detailed Design to ensure compliance of the
deliverables with provisions of the applicable Design standards and
specifications as part of the overall project quality assurance program.
- Provide process & utilities technological support
to assure the quality of in-house process technical safety risk assessments as
applied by SMEs in the execution and quality assurance of utilities and process
technical safety reviews (HAZOP, PSSR, etc.) for plant changes and third-party
projects integration, ESP, AI-PSM and Bowtie
- Responsible for delivering the process and utilities
engineering design packages for projects, as appropriate for each phase, in
line with the corporate goal of top-quartile, competitive and affordable
projects.
- Apply the relevant engineering standards &
specifications in line with DEM1 & 2 requirements aligned to the Project
management framework and DCAF to deliver the appropriate engineering and design
requirements and ensure value creation and protection
- Ensure all Process engineering discipline
requirements for relevant project and engineering procedures and inputs are
made into design deliverables across project maturation and delivery phases
such as BFD, BDEP, PES, PEP, ITT, etc. in close coordination with other
technical disciplines to ensure an integrated project delivery.
- Develop & review of all process and utilities
requirements on design and technical deliverables, including quality control of
deliverables, whilst meeting process technical safety assurances, to ensure the
quality and technical integrity of new installations complies to the required
standards and codes; applying requisite design criteria and standards as
prescribed by Client /Shell DEP and best practice in the industry; and applying
strategies that aim for minimum life cycle costs.
- Provide basic design and engineering work: Design
Calculations, Simulations, Work scope definition, Project Specifications,
selection of standards, Preliminary Design Drawings as may be required for
specific projects.
- Provide discipline and intra-discipline design
reviews, Joint Design Reviews, constructability reviews, models reviews,
HAZID/HAZOP, PSSR reviews, etc. on third party design packages including BFD,
FEED, Detailed Design to ensure compliance of the deliverables with provisions
of the applicable Design standards and specifications as part of the overall
project quality assurance program
- Produce process datasheets, operating philosophies
and control narratives in line with FEED documents and project design basis.
- Evaluate processes and equipment to ensure compliance
with environmental and safety regulations
- Provide support for Process Engineering studies and
change impact analysis as part of the Management of Change (MOC) procedure.
Review and advise on Engineering Technical Queries (ETQ), Construction
Technical Queries (CTQ) and mitigate actual and potential impacts on project
philosophy and existing design .Draft proposal for review & approval, on
design changes and/or other measures necessary, as requirements to demonstrate
that identified business risks are managed to As-Low-As-Reasonably-Practicable
(ALARP) where required, in line with company procedure for Deviation and
Derogation.
- Review vendor documentation to ensure compliance with
requisite standards, codes and regulations for integration within the project
design. Provide input for equipment selection and integration, implement best
practices for integration of equipment within a modularization philosophy
including inspection/commissioning/testing related to commissioning, start up
and integration of new facilities
- Perform the role of Discipline Q-Captain to ensure
Flawless Project Delivery
- Demonstrate HSSE Leadership, champion Production
Risks and Process Safety accountabilities in implementation, execution, and
management of process & utilities integration support with new plant
projects, growth projects and Third-Party Projects. Drive review of and
learnings from proactive observations and incidents.
- In-depth knowledge of process simulation software
(e.g., UNISIM, Aspen HYSYS, PIPESIM, PIPENET) and engineering standards (e.g.,
API, ASME, ISO).

Requirements
1. JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
A University degree in
Chemical Engineering or other engineering or its equivalent.
Experience/Certifications
Extensive experience (8-10 years) in
the Oil & Gas industry with direct experience of project engineering,
design and construction. At least 5 years should have been spent on process
engineering designs, preferably in a similar position in an LNG plant,
refinery. Candidate with TA-3 Authority level will be an added advantage
- The
candidate shall be Registered engineer
with COREN and Corporate Member of Nigerian Society of chemical Engineers
(NSChE).
- The
candidate should be Chartered Chemical Engineer C.Eng or equivalent
certification
- IECEx CoC (Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas)
- Schneider/Siemens/ABB OEM Electrical Certifications
- Comp Ex Ex01–Ex04 (for hazardous area installations)
