As a Senior Principal Electrical Engineer at Stryker, you will serve as a highly influential technical leader responsible for shaping system-level architecture and driving innovation across complex electromechanical medical devices. This role combines deep technical expertise in electrical system design—including PCBA, motor control, and vacuum pump systems—with strong leadership, mentorship, and cross-functional collaboration.
You will play a critical role in advancing new product development, and next-generation platform strategy while elevating the technical capabilities of the broader engineering organization.
What You Will Do
Lead system-level electrical design and integration for complex medical devices, including hardware, firmware, mechanical interfaces, and compliance to standards such as IEC 60601
Drive development of PCBAs, motor control systems, and vacuum pump technologies with strong focus on performance, reliability, manufacturability, and verification/validation
Serve as a technical leader for architecture decisions, design reviews, risk assessments, root cause investigations, and resolution of complex system issues
Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, and Clinical teams to successfully deliver high-quality products and support long-term platform strategy
Mentor and develop engineers across multiple levels, fostering technical excellence, succession planning, accountability, and continuous improvement within the organization
Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders while elevating engineering rigor, innovation, and best practices.
What You Need
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. (Master’s or PhD preferred)
10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a strong focus on system-level design.
Proven expertise in PCBA design and development.
Hands-on experience with motor control systems and vacuum pump technologies.
Demonstrated experience leading complex engineering projects and influencing cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in the medical device industry or other highly regulated environments.
Strong knowledge of regulatory standards such as IEC 60601 and risk management processes (ISO 14971).
Experience with embedded systems and hardware/software integration.
Track record of innovation, including patents or significant product contributions.
Exceptional communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
