The Capital Markets Foreign Exchange (FX) Department is responsible for providing clients and internal stakeholders with efficient, competitive, and risk‑managed access to global currency markets. The department supports the full lifecycle of FX products—from post‑trade operations and risk management—while ensuring strong governance and regulatory compliance.
Operating across spot, forward, swap, and options markets, the FX department enables clients to execute international payments and facilitate cross‑border transactions. The team works closely with Corporate Treasury, Sales, Relationship Managers, and Trading to deliver tailored FX solutions that meet client needs across hedging, liquidity, and market access.
Core responsibilities include market-making, trade execution, liquidity management, pricing and analytics, client coverage, and operational support. The department maintains strong control frameworks, ensures adherence to global regulatory standards, and continuously enhances systems and processes to improve execution quality, transparency, and operational resilience.
The Post Trade Operations Intern will support the Post Trade Operations team in the accurate and timely processing of post-trade activities across the transaction lifecycle. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience and foundational knowledge of Foreign Exchange (FX) and Structured Products within a dynamic and regulated financial markets environment.
Working closely with experienced analysts, the intern will assist with trade capture, validation, confirmation, settlement, reconciliation, and lifecycle event processing. The role offers exposure to a broad range of FX products, including Spot, Forwards, Swaps, NDFs, FX Options, and Structured Products, helping to develop an understanding of how transactions are managed from execution through to settlement and expiry.
The intern will support the monitoring and processing of lifecycle events such as option expiries, fixings cash flow processing, and trade amendments, while learning the importance of market conventions, product documentation, and operational controls. They will also assist in investigating exceptions, maintaining accurate records, and performing reconciliations to help ensure the integrity of operational processes.
This position provides an opportunity to work with a variety of stakeholders, including Trading, Sales, Risk, Technology, Finance, and external counterparties, while developing strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Through practical experience and mentorship, the intern will gain valuable insight into post-trade operations, operational risk management, and the critical role Operations plays in supporting the firm's clients and business objectives.
Responsibilities:
1. Trade Processing & Lifecycle Management
• Ensure accurate and timely processing of trades across the full lifecycle (trade capture, affirmation/confirmation, settlement, reconciliation).
• Manage lifecycle events such as rollovers, resets, expiries, corporate actions, and rate fixings.
• Oversee complex or non standard transactions requiring specialist knowledge.
2. Risk & Control Oversight
• Identify, escalate, and remediate operational risks, breaks, and control gaps.
• Maintain strong adherence to internal controls, regulatory obligations, and audit expectations.
• Perform quality checks on key processes to ensure accuracy and completeness.
3. Issue Resolution & Escalation Point
• Act as the primary point of escalation for complex or time sensitive trade and settlement issues.
• Liaise with Front Office, Sales, Middle Office, Technology, and external counterparties to resolve breaks.
• Troubleshoot system or process failures and drive timely resolution.
4. Process Improvement & Change Delivery
• Analyse processes to identify opportunities for automation, simplification, and enhanced STP.
• Support or lead operational improvement initiatives and system enhancements.
• Contribute to UAT, regression testing, and implementation of new products or platforms.
5. Stakeholder Management
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders (Front Office, Treasury, Risk, Compliance, Finance).
• Engage effectively with external stakeholders such as custodians, clearing houses, and counterparties.
• Communicate clearly and proactively regarding breaks, risks, and required actions.
6. Reporting & Reconciliations
• Oversee daily reconciliations (cash, positions, confirmations, nostro, clearing).
• Produce and validate daily/weekly/monthly operational reports and KPIs.
• Ensure exceptions are investigated, resolved, and documented appropriately.
7. Regulatory & Compliance Responsibilities
• Support regulatory reporting activities (e.g., EMIR, Dodd Frank, MiFID II)—ensuring data accuracy.
• Ensure all operational processes meet compliance and record keeping standards.
• Assist with audit requests, regulator queries, and compliance reviews.
Additional Responsibilities
• Carry out other duties and project work as reasonably required to support the Post Trade Operations team and broader business objectives.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to learning, professional development, and continuous improvement throughout the internship.

Skills Required
- Proven experience in post-trade processing and lifecycle management (capture, confirmation, settlement, reconciliations)
