About Investments  

Our investments team manages RenaissanceRe’s $29 billion investment portfolio, allocating our assets, either directly or through investment managers, to deliver alpha against our strategic benchmark. We invest in a diverse range of assets from treasuries and corporate bonds to equities and private credit to provide capital and liquidity for underwriting risk and paying claims. Our investment portfolio is one of RenaissanceRe’s “Three Drivers of Profit”, along with underwriting income and fees, providing $1.2 billion in net investment income in 2023 to benefit our shareholders and joint venture partners.    
 

About Investments Operations 

The Investments Operations team is responsible for supporting all Investments middle office activities, including trade support and settlement, counterparty maintenance, compliance, bank account management, data reconciliations and reporting, and performance and attribution. The team supports and works closely with Investments, Treasury, Finance, among other departments to ensure complete and accurate representation of our investments portfolio.   
 

Investment Operations is expanding to support the growing business demands. We are focused on increasing scalability through digitalization, automation, and streamlining processes to enable continued excellence in delivering to our clients, partners, stakeholders, and employees.  This is an exciting opportunity to join the transformation journey, work directly with the core Investments team, external managers, and on the BlackRock Aladdin platform 

 

About the Position 

Reporting directly to the VP, Investment Operations, the Senior Portfolio Administrator – Investments Operations will be primarily responsible for Account Management and portfolio, manager, and broker onboarding.  RenaissanceRe has grown significantly over the past few years, both organically and through strategic acquisitions; our portfolio has grown in parallel.  This role will support increased investment activities and provide oversight on investment-related transactions. The successful candidate will work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure coordination and completeness of investments transactions workflows.  In addition, this person will be a primary liaison for our 300+ custody and trustee relationships, providing administrative support, including account on- and off-boarding, cash and security transaction, responding to related queries, and coordinating same with the investment manager.  

 

The Senior Portfolio Administrator - Investments Operations, is based in the Bermuda office and will work collaboratively with team members in Dublin and New York. 

 

Key Relationships 

  • Reports to: VP, Investment Operations 

  • Key Stakeholders & Partners:  Treasury, Investments, Capital Partners; externally, custodians, third party managers, trustees, and service providers    

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Coordinate and oversee investment portfolio activities to support business needs, including management of asset and cash transfers, administration of custody accounts, and other custody-related activities.  

  • Serve as primary point of contact with the Investments Portfolio Management team to facilitate portfolio transactions and operational support of the investment portfolios, including on- and off-boarding investment portfolios and overseeing the investment process   

  • Coordinate with Investments team, other internal stakeholders, and third parties, including custodians and third-party managers, to manage ongoing administration, account queries, and general account management  

  • Manage the onboarding process for investment mandates; work with sub-teams to facilitate Investment Management Agreement (IMA) onboarding; coordinate documentation and updates with external managers; ensure completeness of processes and documentation   

  • Provide internal trading support, providing desk coverage as after-hour support and as needed, for the trade settlement processes  

 

Candidate Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 4+ years of relevant experience in Investments or Finance Operations/Banking or similar role within the financial services industry  

  • Knowledge of investment markets and financial products required with experience in fixed income markets  

  • Strong understanding of banking or financial market operations.  

  • Proficient in MS office with strong Excel skills  

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently   

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail  

  • Experience and knowledge of BlackRock Solutions Aladdin an advantage   

  • Bachelor’s degree expected, ideally in Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent demonstration of markets knowledge and analytical capabilities
