We're looking for engineers with approximately 1–5 years of experience who are passionate about Java, distributed systems and performance engineering. Exceptional new graduates with strong Java fundamentals and hands-on project experience are also welcome to apply.
Rather than focusing on feature development alone, this role is dedicated to improving the performance, scalability and reliability of distributed backend systems. You'll investigate JVM internals, optimize application and middleware performance, troubleshoot production bottlenecks, and build internal tooling that enables engineering teams to ship reliable systems at scale.
This is an ideal opportunity for:
- Java Backend Engineers interested in performance engineering
- Performance Engineers who enjoy deep technical troubleshooting
- Infrastructure Engineers passionate about JVM, distributed systems and large-scale architecture
Responsibilities
- Analyze and optimize the performance of large-scale Java applications across application, middleware, JVM and infrastructure layers.
- Investigate production performance issues, identify root causes through profiling, tracing and code analysis, and drive end-to-end optimization.
- Design and execute performance validation for distributed systems, covering throughput, latency, scalability and system stability.
- Improve Java runtime performance through JVM tuning, GC optimization, thread analysis, memory leak investigation and profiling.
- Optimize databases and middleware including MySQL, Redis, Kafka and other distributed components.
- Build internal platforms and automation tools for performance testing, diagnostics, observability and capacity planning.
- Partner with backend engineers and DevOps teams to improve system reliability and production readiness.
- Review Java code for performance risks and leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development efficiency while ensuring production-quality code
Requirements
- Eengineers who enjoy understanding how large-scale Java systems actually work under the hood.
- Strong Java programming skills with solid understanding of JVM internals, multithreading and concurrent programming.
- Experience diagnosing performance bottlenecks through heap analysis, thread analysis, profiling and GC tuning.
- Familiarity with distributed system architecture and production troubleshooting.
- Experience with Spring Boot and microservice architecture.
- Hands-on experience working with middleware such as Kafka, Redis, RabbitMQ or ZooKeeper.
- Solid understanding of MySQL performance optimization and slow query analysis.
- Experience with Linux, Docker and Kubernetes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and passion for system performance and reliability.
- Experience building internal engineering platforms or developer tooling is highly valued.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) and ability to critically assess AI-generated code for performance and correctness.
Skills Required
- Deep proficiency in Java and ability to evaluate code quality for performance
- JVM-level tuning experience (GC optimization, heap/thread analysis, profiling)
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting microservice performance issues in production
- Practical experience with performance engineering tools such as K6 or JMeter
- Proficiency with relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB) including query optimization and slow-query analysis
- Familiarity with middleware performance analysis (Kafka, Redis, RabbitMQ)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Solid Linux command-line and system-level troubleshooting skills
