Your Success ProfileWhat You Will Work On

Strategic Business Partnership:

  • Act as a strategic business partner to client group leaders, aligning people strategy with business goals to drive scalable and sustainable growth and performance.
  • Coach and support leaders through talent-related decisions, including workforce planning,  organizational design, succession planning, change management, and leadership effectiveness to ensure teams are set up for success.
  • Demonstrate strong business acumen and curiosity about Justworks’ products and services
  • Bring a customer-focused mindset to your partnership: understand how our HR tech solutions empower small businesses and leverage this knowledge to help leaders build high-performing teams that deliver exceptional customer value.
  • Shape the future by identifying opportunities, addressing challenges before they surface, and delivering solutions that enable both people and business to grow with confidence.

Leveraging Data: 

  • Organize data in a clear, digestible way that equips leaders to make informed, confident decisions.
  • Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to identify opportunities, challenges, and trends.
  • Translate complex information into actionable insights and recommendations that improve organizational effectiveness, strengthen team health, and drive business performance.

Championing Change: 

  • Serve as a change champion during periods of transformation, developing and executing change management plans that enhance organizational adoption and resilience.
  • Take ownership of change initiatives from planning through adoption, guiding and enabling business leaders to lead and navigate through organizational changes with confidence, ensuring smooth transitions and effective communication.

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging: 

  • Embed DEIB principles into team-level strategies and act as an advocate for inclusive culture and equitable talent practices.

Talent Development:

  • Drive a high-performance and growth culture by partnering with leaders to set clear expectations, calibrate talent, and embed feedback and accountability practices into day-to-day operations.
  • Develop and refine functional career paths and identify opportunities to embed training and development within Justworks’ broader talent strategy.
  • Contribute to cross-functional talent initiatives, including leadership development, high-potential identification, and strategic capability building.

People Team Partnership: 

  • Collaborate with the People team Centers of Excellence (Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, People Operations, Talent & Organizational Development, Diversity Equity & Inclusion, Workplace) to deliver programs that attract, engage, and retain top talent.
  • Share best practices, tools, and insights with fellow People Business Partners to elevate the team's capabilities and foster a culture of shared learning and expertise.
  • Partner on cross-functional people initiatives, collaborating across departments to ensure alignment and successful execution of projects that impact the broader organization.

Employee Relations: 

  • Support business leaders and Justworkers in addressing employee relations matters (including performance concerns and policy violations) with expertise and empathy, in close partnership with the Employee Relations team.

Administrative:

  • Perform other related duties, including administrative tasks needed to ensure timely execution of People team-related responsibilities.

As a People Business Partner, how results are achieved is paramount to your success. In this role, your foundational knowledge, skills, abilities and personal attributes are anchored in the following competencies:

  • Consultative - takes an approach that focuses on building relationships with others, understanding their problems, and developing solutions to challenges through open-ended questions and active listening.
  • Solution-oriented - identifies the source of a question or challenge and provides the right, or a better, way of doing things.
  • Good judgement - the exercise of critical thinking, analyzing and assessing problems and implications, identifying patterns, making connections of underlying issues, understanding risks and developing mitigation strategies, and taking ownership of the outcome.
  • Functional expertise - subject matter expertise of specific function(s), including knowledge of principles, practices, and domain knowledge.
  • Clear communication - the ability to articulate thoughts and express ideas effectively using oral, written, visual and non-verbal communication skills, as well as listening skills to gain understanding.
  • Adaptability - the ability to effectively flex communication and interpersonal styles to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels, from senior leadership to entry-level employees.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of HR/HRBP experience with a proven ability to partner with and influence managers and senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to own initiatives end-to-end - from diagnosing needs to shaping solutions, executing, and measuring impact.
  • Experience guiding leaders through change, transformation, and growth, with a strong track record in talent strategy, organizational design, and cross-functional initiatives in matrixed organizations.
  • Success operating in high-growth, rapidly evolving environments with complex, distributed teams.
  • Skilled at coaching and communicating across all levels of the organization; adept at navigating complex employee relations matters with trust, fairness, and compliance.
  • Strong analytical and operational thinking, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights, solve complex problems, and design scalable, strategic solutions.
  • Experienced in handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
  • Knowledge of HR systems and best practices; experience optimizing systems a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws and compliance requirements across federal, state, local, and international contexts.

The base wage range for this position based in our New York City Office is targeted at $137,500 to $151,250 per year.

Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location.  Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
