About Milan Laser Hair Removal
Milan Laser Hair Removal is one of the nation’s premier laser hair removal providers. We’re growing quickly, and behind that growth is a team of people who care about doing great work, supporting one another, and continuously finding ways to make things better.
We’re looking for a Senior Payroll Specialist to join our team! If you’re someone who knows payroll inside and out, loves digging into the details, and takes pride in making sure people are paid accurately and on time, this could be a great fit.
About the Role
This isn’t just a “process payroll and move on” kind of role. You’ll work across multiple legal entities, tackle payroll and tax questions, support accounting activities, partner with teams across the organization, and help us continue improving our processes as Milan grows.
Status: Full-time | Salaried
Location: Omaha, NE | On-Site
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and review bi-weekly payroll for multiple legal entities, ensuring accurate and timely processing of salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
- Review pre- and post-payroll reports, maintain payroll documentation, and troubleshoot discrepancies.
- Ensure payroll tax accuracy and compliance across states and localities, including responding to tax notices and working directly with government agencies.
- Manage payroll tax registrations as Milan expands into new states and localities.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 reconciliation and reporting.
- Calculate and process sales commissions.
- Prepare payroll-related journal entries, month-end accruals, benefit allocations, and account reconciliations.
- Support audits related to payroll accounting, 401(k), workers’ compensation, and payroll tax activity.
- Serve as a resource for employees, helping research and resolve payroll questions or issues.
- Partner with teams across Milan on payroll-related needs and projects.
- Look for opportunities to improve processes, solve problems, and make payroll operations even better as we continue to grow.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of payroll experience, including experience handling complex payroll processes, payroll taxation, and inquiries from taxing authorities.
- Strong knowledge of payroll laws, regulations, earnings and deduction taxation, year-end tax reporting, and benefits/401(k) deductions.
- Experience working within a cloud-based payroll system; Paycom experience is a plus.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working in a large-scale or growing organization is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills—you’re comfortable digging into data, finding discrepancies, and figuring out what happened.
- A strong understanding of payroll controls and compliance.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while staying organized and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable working independently while also collaborating across teams.
- A continuous-improvement mindset. You don’t just identify a problem—you want to help find a better way forward.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred.
You'll Thrive Here If...
You’re the person who notices when something doesn’t look right and wants to understand why. You’re comfortable owning detailed, deadline-driven work, but you also enjoy being a resource for others. Payroll accuracy matters to you because you understand there’s a person behind every paycheck.
You’ll also be joining a growing company, so flexibility is important. Processes will evolve, new challenges will come up, and we’re looking for someone who can roll with change, solve problems, and help us continue getting better.
