Your role at St John of God Health Care

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to play a key part in the delivery of accurate and compliant end-to-end payroll services across a large and complex organisation. In this role, you will take ownership of a range of detailed payroll activities, including pay run compliance reviews, superannuation reconciliations, payroll deductions, control management activities and payroll-related projects.

Working closely with key stakeholders, you will contribute to process improvements, support incident investigations, and ensure payroll services are delivered accurately, efficiently and in compliance with legislative and organisational requirements.

The role is offered on a permanent full-time basis, working 38 hours per week.

The Position:

  • Apply payroll legislation, Awards and Enterprise Agreements to ensure accurate and compliant payroll processing across the employee lifecycle.

  • Process and maintain payroll transactions, including timesheets, leave entitlements, terminations, superannuation and payroll master data.

  • Complete payroll reconciliations, compliance checks and exception reporting to identify and resolve discrepancies and ensure accuracy.

  • Investigate and resolve complex payroll queries and Tier 2 escalations, delivering a high standard of customer service to caregivers.

  • Prepare payroll and superannuation reporting, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with legislative and organisational requirements.

  • Contribute to payroll system enhancements, process improvements, projects and the ongoing development of payroll policies and procedures.

To be successful in this role, you will bring a minimum of three years' payroll experience, with a strong understanding of payroll processes, legislation, industrial awards and enterprise agreements. You will have demonstrated experience working with computerised payroll and HR systems, interpreting complex payroll requirements, and processing high-volume transactions accurately while meeting strict deadlines.

Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills will be essential, along with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel, will support your success, while experience with aPay, UKG or Workday and an understanding of both manual and automated payroll practices will be highly regarded.

  • Salary: $97,222 to $99,892 per annum plus 12% superannuation

Skills Required
