About the Role

Roku is seeking a highly technical and versatile Senior Partner Engineer to drive the success of our high-profile content partners and ensure their streaming experiences thrive on the Roku platform. This is a unique opportunity to work with leading media companies such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO, and Disney, while shaping the way millions of users engage with streaming entertainment.

For California & New York Only - The estimated base salary for this position is between $195,000 - $212,000 annually. Compensation packages are based on factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, certifications, and specific geographical location. This role is eligible for health insurance, equity awards, life insurance, disability benefits, parental leave, wellness benefits, and paid time off.

What you'll be doing
  • Act as the primary technical advisor to key partners, helping define how their content and brand are presented within the Roku ecosystem.
  • Provide strategic technical leadership throughout the application development lifecycle—from design and architecture, through development, certification, launch, and ongoing updates.
  • Influence partner and internal roadmaps by providing technical guidance, best practices, and insights from the partner community.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Roku engineering, product, business development, and partner management teams to ensure a seamless partner integration experience.
  • Represent Roku as a technical thought leader in partner meetings, executive briefings, and industry events.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the ongoing evolution of Roku’s SDKs, tools, and developer documentation.
  • Provide post-launch technical support, guiding partners through application updates, optimization, and issue resolution.
  • This is a highly visible role that combines deep technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills. You will work directly with executives, engineers, and product managers both inside Roku and at partner companies, balancing technical depth with business impact.
We're excited if you have
  • 7+ years of software development experience, with at least 3+ years working in customer- or partner-facing engineering roles.
  • Strong programming expertise in C++ or similar system-level languages (e.g., Rust, Go, Objective-C).
  • Hands-on experience with both managed and native software frameworks.
  • Proven ability to influence and enable third-party developers, including building tools, SDK improvements, or technical documentation.
  • Deep knowledge of video streaming protocols (HLS, DASH, Smooth Streaming), DRM, content protection, and performance optimization for embedded or constrained devices.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure), REST/GraphQL APIs, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with Linux, Git, and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Knowledge of OpenGL or graphics frameworks and exposure to mobile/console gaming development is a plus.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical concepts to both engineering and executive audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
