Senior Paralegal

Job responsibilities:

• The position will report directly to the General Counsel, but will work very closely with other team members, internal clients, and the senior management
• Implement processes and organization using company systems
• Build and manage playbooks
• Help develop, implement, and continually improve policies, processes, and procedures
• Helps maintain agreements in document management systems
• Support Board meetings, including coordination of on-site meetings and the preparation of meeting agendas, materials, resolutions, minutes, and executive summaries
• Coordinate with outside counsel
• Effectively organize and maintain litigation matter files
• Assist with the preparation and filing of patent, trademark, and copyright applications and manage and maintain accurate records and documentation of NewsBreak’s intellectual property portfolio
• Prepare and draft common contracts (e.g., NDAs, MSAs, professional services agreement)
• Other responsibilities, as assigned

Requirements 

• At least 8-10 years of applicable experience as a paralegal in corporate, securities, and/or litigation or employment practice areas, preferably with both start-up and public company experience
• Prior in-house experience
• A go-getter with a keen sense of judgment, strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and a experience building processes from ground up would excel in this role
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
• Proficient in Ironclad, Microsoft Office products, and Outlook
• Ability to partner cross-functionally, influence, and communicate with all levels of management
• Ability to work in an environment where priorities can change quickly; strong ability to balance multiple projects simultaneously
• Work in office 4+ days per week

Nice to have: 

• IPO experience or public-company experience 
• Experience in the internet / tech industry
• Experience at a law firm with a focus on intellectual property, litigation, and/or employment law
• Solid understanding of intellectual property law, including patent and trademark application and filing processes
• Active notary public
