About DEFCON AI
DEFCON AI, an insights company, is developing a next-generation modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) toolset tailored for mobility and logistics operations across various environments. Leveraging our extensive expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), mathematical optimization, analytics, and world-class software engineering, we are poised to revolutionize the industry. Our technology, accompanied by a diverse array of optimization algorithms, empowers planners and leaders to formulate strategies for mobility, sustainment, and logistics operations, and equips them with tools to visualize, assess, and mitigate the potential impacts of disruptions.
About the Senior Operations Research ScientistRequirements
- Experience formulating and solving optimization problems
- MS or PhD in mathematics, operations research, physics, computer science, industrial engineering or related field.
- Programming experience in Python and/or R, version control (Git), and database (SQL, MySQL) and common data science libraries (e.g. Pandas, Numpy)
- Knowledge and experience with statistics and data science
- At least 5 years of experience using analysis to solve complex problems
- Active DoD Secret Clearance, or willingness to obtain Clearance
- Wiling to temporarily relocate to (or already reside in) Omaha, NE
- If relocating, Defcon will provide a comprehensive relocation package
- Practical experience applying AI/ML techniques
- Basic data engineering skills (data cleaning, building ETL pipelines, and/or database administration)
- Cloud-based development (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc) and deployment (Docker, Kubernetes)
- TS/SCI Clearance

Salary Range: $160,000-250,000
