The Opportunity
The Network Management Section under Infrastructure Reliability Engineering Chapter is responsible for data and voice services infrastructure for Roche. The Data Network Team works on the deployment of data network infrastructure and solutions to support Roche and its affiliates. Based on engineered standards, the team ensures that new solutions are deployed in a timely fashion to ensure service levels and customer expectations are met.
The Senior Network Specialist will be based in Pleasanton, CA and will be a key contributor to the Connectivity Product Line’s integrated network services. Work closely with the relevant Product Managers and Product Owners in delivering value to our stakeholders, through problem-solving and hands-on technical skills, while ensuring the service runs in compliance with service metrics relevant to the consumer. Engage partners, to listen and understand provisioning and capacity demands, and act as the point-of-accountability for decisions directly related to the service offering. Strive for the success of the network service across all divisions and for its quality, efficiency, effectiveness and consumer happiness.
Responsibilities:

Work with customers of the Integrated Informatics products.

Work with virtual teams with variable workload, in flexible working hours.

Connect with confidence with stakeholders, vendors and colleagues across different geographies.

Coordinate with vendors and third party suppliers for implementations and changes of external services.

Collaborate with internal parties as well as external providers for projects, escalations and resolutions of problems.

Develop and implement solutions based on our engineering standards.

Provide consultancy for requests for change.

Build and maintain up-to-date documentation of network operations and procedures.

Ensure that the network infrastructure is configured, supervised and maintained according to global standards & procedures and within the service level agreements.

The successful candidate will possess strong technical skills, a passion to drive initiatives and the ability to work collaboratively, with minimal direction.
Who You Are
-
Bachelor in Computer Science, Engineering or an equivalent discipline with a minimum 5-8 years of work experience in supporting and implementing complex data networks
-
LAN (campus, data center & manufacturing).
-
WLAN (on prem & cloud-managed).
-
-
Excellent communication skills and experience in handling and working with external vendors, telecom carriers and service providers.
-
Knowledge of troubleshooting methodologies as they apply to resolving sophisticated technical problems.
-
Experience using packet capture devices for network troubleshooting.
-
Solid grasp & technical knowledge of end-to-end network architecture and experience in its related routing & switching theories and protocols.

TCP/IP protocol suite.
-
802.11 WLAN design and 802.11x protocols.
-
Campus and Data Center networks.
-
BGP and OSPF.
-
-
Experience with Cisco Wireless Network Design, troubleshooting, Implementation, and Optimization.

Experience in the following network services activities:

Lifecycle management.

Problem management.

Experience in supporting global wide area networks and remote local area networks in multiple locations.
Preferred:

Experience in supporting and implementing complex data networks

WAN (core routing & SD WAN).

Experience in related routing & switching theories and protocols.

Network High Level Design & Low Level Design.

Experience with scripting & network automation (Ansible, Python, Perl, etc.) is a plus.

Experience in cloud networking is a definite plus.

Experience with virtualization & containerization is a plus.

Solid understanding of security devices such as firewalls, proxies and VPNs, understanding of authentication and data encryption, is a plus.

Solid grasp and experience in the SAFe Agile delivery framework and usage of ServiceNOW for IT service management process is a plus.

Active CCNA / CCNP, CCIE or similar certification is a plus.

Proficient in Spanish (spoken) is a plus.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California state is $100,000 - $185,800. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
