We’re looking for a senior engineer to join our Sydney team and play a key role in guiding and supporting our network and infrastructure teams in Sydney and Kuala Lumpur. You'll help ensure our core platform and infrastructure are managed using best practices and collaborate closely with teams across the Technology department to deliver the services our business relies on.
This is a hands-on technical role where your expertise will shine. You’ll mentor others through complex troubleshooting, lead technical solutions, and step up to meet business requirements as needed. You’ll also work alongside the Network and Platform Team Lead to provide practical, commercially viable recommendations.
This will be a permanent, full-time position based in the Sydney office, with flexibility to work from home.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform a combination of project and BAU work with a range of different business and technical requirements around network infrastructure and platforms.
- Provide expert assistance in the design, staging, build and rollout of new platforms whether on-premises or in AWS and Azure.
- Design and produce accurate documentation of the current state of the platform and network infrastructure configuration.
- Assist in reviewing, improving and testing the IT Disaster Recovery Plan to ensure it is maintained and aligned with the business BCP requirements.
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations.
- Provide 2nd and 3rd level support on platform and network infrastructure in all Employers Mutual offices.
- Evaluate new technologies and provide recommendations for the purchase of products and services.
- Develop and conduct proactive maintenance activities
ABOUT YOU
- More than 8+ years demonstrated experience in an Engineering or platform role, working within a fast-paced business environment .
- At least 3 years’ experience as a senior engineer or senior platform engineer.
- Solid experience with Firewall and switch management such as FortiGate/Aruba/Cisco.
- Understanding of DNS, TCP, IPv4, IPv6, Ethernet switching, WLAN, WAN technology
- Experience with Design, setup, configure of network and platform solutions
- Knowledge of Firewall, WAF and networking concepts and standard
- Knowledge of Azure and/or AWS cloud environments.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and container environments
