The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, implementation, operation, and improvement of RingCentral’s global corporate network infrastructure. This role helps ensure that network services operate reliably, securely, and within established design and performance specifications.
The engineer will participate in network upgrades, deployments, operational monitoring, capacity planning, performance analysis, and troubleshooting. This position will handle complex network incidents, escalate when needed, and work closely with senior engineers, IT operations teams, vendors, and security teams to restore and improve service.
This role is expected to contribute to technical documentation, standards, automation, and knowledge sharing across the network team.
Job Responsibilities:
Support the design, implementation, and operation of reliable, scalable enterprise networks supporting real-time services.
Operate and maintain RingCentral’s global corporate network environment.
Execute routine and planned network changes, service provisioning, and infrastructure deployments.
Troubleshoot network, application, and connectivity issues; perform fault isolation, service recovery, and incident analysis.
Provide Level 2/Level 3 technical support to global IT teams and participate in escalation handling.
Monitor network capacity, availability, and performance; identify improvement opportunities and potential risks.
Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations.
Work with vendors and service providers to troubleshoot incidents, manage circuit issues, and support implementations.
Assist with the evaluation and adoption of new network technologies, tools, and methodologies.
Develop and maintain network standards, procedures, diagrams, and operational documentation.
Contribute to automation and AI-enabled operational improvements where appropriate.
Share knowledge and provide technical assistance to network engineers and administrators.
Qualifications:
4–6 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, operations, implementation, or support within enterprise environments.
Experience supporting high-availability LAN, WAN, WLAN, and Internet connectivity services.
Hands-on experience with multi-vendor network and security technologies, such as Juniper, Cisco, Mist, Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Cato, or Zscaler.
Experience troubleshooting complex network and application connectivity issues.
Understanding of network design principles, change management, incident management, SLAs, and operational best practices.
Familiarity with automation, scripting, or AI-assisted operational tools is preferred.
Linux proficiency is preferred.
Core Technical Knowledge:
IP routing protocols, including BGP and OSPF; familiarity with EIGRP, IS-IS, IP Multicast, and MPLS is a plus.
IPv4 required; IPv6 knowledge preferred.
TCP/IP fundamentals, including packet-level troubleshooting.
Network protocols including TCP, UDP, HTTP, DNS, SIP, RTP, and SSL/TLS.
Network infrastructure including LAN, WAN, WLAN, routing, switching, load balancing, and monitoring.
Network security concepts including firewalls, proxies, ACLs, IPSec, VPNs, PKI, and SSL/TLS.
Network concepts including VRRP, LACP, EtherChannel, STP, and QoS.
Experience supporting real-time voice and video traffic is preferred.
Familiarity with physical networking concepts, including Ethernet, fiber optics, and structured cabling.
Working Knowledge:
Network monitoring and management tools.
Packet capture and analysis tools such as Wireshark, IXIA, Cacti, iPerf, or equivalent.
Voice and video over IP technologies.
Cloud networking concepts, including AWS networking, preferred.
Network documentation, diagramming, and change-management processes.
Network file systems and collaboration technologies, including NFS, CIFS, and NAS, is a plus.
Familiarity:
Linux, macOS, and Windows administration.
Scripting or programming languages such as Bash, Python, PowerShell, Perl, Ruby, or PHP.
Enterprise applications and services, including email, DNS, databases, SQL, web servers, and identity services.
Server hardware and virtualization concepts.
Non-IP networking protocols are a plus.
Education and Personal Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS, PCNSA, NSE, or equivalent are preferred.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a global team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Willingness to learn, take ownership, and grow into broader technical responsibilities.
